Could receiving a cortisone shot in my thumb joint for trigger thumb cause me to get a yeast infection?
How long do I have to wait to have arthroscopy of the hip after getting a cortisone shot in that joint? Do I have to wait to get it out of body?
No: If the injection helped tell your surgeon (not sure if it was in the hip joint or hip bursa)... Either way if injection helped than arthroscopy may help (for bursectomy or hip labral tear). The steroid injection may have been a diagnostic and / or therapeutic injection but does not affect (by itself) timing for surgery... Good luck! ...Read more
Depends: Why are you getting them? The reason for the shot is the determining factor. Usually a steroid shot in the back or into a joint is no more than every 3 months and that is usually the maximum and for good causes. Shot in the hip are the same and would need to know why! steroids are good meds but harmful if abuse or misused. It is often a way to get someone out of pain until a joint replacement. ...Read more

What to do if I have tenosynovitis in my wrist and I may have to get a cortisone shot. Does anyone know if there are other options?
Bracing: If u have the most common tenosynovitis of the 'wrist', or thumb (deQuervain's) then Velcro bracing or thumb spica splinting can be helpful; also rest from activities which aggravate the pain, NSAIDs (Ibuprofen, etc.) and a compounding NSAID / pain cream (topical) may all be helpful prior to cortisone injection. How can I quickly get a cortisone shot in san diego for chronic lower back pain? Had one before. Scripps wants me to wait 6 weeks for the shot.
Standards: Presumably, you are describing an epidural steroid injection, which may well control symptoms if you have a disc rupture compressing a nerve root. But, the standard is not to exceed three such injections yearly. So, might propose that it is best to delay as you have been advised. ...Read more

If you have a bladder infection and on antibiotic, can you get a cortisone shot in your knee. Would it make infection worse-cortisone?
UTI & cortisone shot: Unlikely that intraarticular cortisone will make a bladder infection worse - I am assuming you were on treatment for the infection prior to the cortisone shot. Bladder infections generally respond quickly with the right antibiotic. Just to be sure I would ask for a urine culture several days after completing the antibiotic to make sure the infection is cleared. Good luck ...Read more

Cortisone injections are used as a treatment for peripheral neurpathies and other problems aftecting the upper extremity like tendinitis or any other inflammatory process, unless the patient has contra-indications to receive it. According to some studies, the effects of cortisone injections for carpal tunnel syndrome are as good as surgery in some cases. Steroid injections in the carpal tunnel are usually the first step in the treatment of symptoms associated with cts. Adverse results are unusual, but as in any medical procedure they could hapened. Reactions to the medications, trauma to the nerve are exemples of these. It is also commom to see a worsening of the symptoms in the first few days after the injection, what is called post injection flare up, that usually resolves in a few days.

I've been on prednisone for 3 days for cystic acne, I ended it yesterday and suffer from flare up, can I get cortisone shot in flared up cyst?
Probably: Cystic acne is difficult to treat and I often find Prednisone for 3 days not effective. Prednisone, in general, doesn't work well long term or short term. Do you also (as my doctor) see ok to get a cortisone shot and dimetinden therapy when breastfeeding (1 month old baby) due to a heavy nettle rash?
Some of the medications you take will get into the breast milk but given the severity of your rash, I think the risk /benefit ratio favors taking the medications since the medications would be present in only trace quantities and not likely to affect your infant.
