Can Gerd Cause Dysphagia
Have had dysphagia on and off for about 4 weeks. Same with loss of appetite. Can both of them be caused by "Gerd"?

What is the difference between NERD & GERD? If my endoscopy shows normal but I have dysphagia corrected by Nexium (esomeprazole), (esomeprazole) is this NERD?.. Only Nexium (esomeprazole) works.
NERD: ... Is an endoscopic term meaning that no erosions were seen in the esophagus by endoscopy . It does not mean that you do not have gastroesophageal reflux disease. No: There are many causes of dysphagia. If you are truely having difficulty swallowing then you should have a swallowing study. Phlegm may be caused by allergies and post nasal drip. Endoscopy shows Esophagus as perfectly normal, yet I have Dysphagia which was eliminated by taking Nexium (esomeprazole). Does this mean I have NERD-subset of GERD?
I had dysphagia. Endoscopy showed my esophagus as normal. I have no GERD symptoms at all. Daily Nexium (esomeprazole) cured the dysphagia. What do I have? thanks
Esophageal spasm: This is conjecture. You likely had some silent reflux without the typical symptoms but which resulted in esophageal spasm or something similar resulting in dysphagia. I still would have expected to see some evidence of inflammation on the endoscopy. But the Nexium (esomeprazole) would have worked in this situation. ...Read more
