Can Garlic Cure Hepatitis B
Sir, I have been haven abdominal pains for mor than 1 yr now and the test resulted Ulcer and hepatitis B. Please, can garlic, ginger and honey can do?
Medication: See a physician with expertise in management of hepatitis. There are now medications with which to treat this. Do it reasonably soon because the longer you live with this the greater the potential for permanent injury to the liver. This having been said, it is not an emergency.
DNA inside nucleus: Hepatitis b dna (genetic material) gets inside the nucleus of liver cells and we do not know how to get it out. The ways we can control hbv are through a person's immune response, or with antiviral medications that prevent the virus from making copies of itself. Current hbv medications are very effective and well tolerated. People may also need screening for liver cancer.
Sometimes: Hepatitis b patients usually recover completely and are immune. If it goes chronic, usually it can't be cured, though there's talk of cures with some of the new protocols. Hepatitis c usually goes chronic; the physician may try for a cure with intensive therapy and it may or may not work.
4-6 months: Interferon is generally given for 4-6 months. In some settings, longer therapy may be needed. Generally about a third of patients will respond to this medication. It's advantage is that it is short term treatment (compared to long term treatment with the other antiviral medicines). You should discuss this treatment option with an expert in hepatitis b infection.
Hep B and C: As of now, there are treatments that can absolutely CURE Hepatitis C. A cure for Hep B, however, is not available at this time, but, with treatment the viral load can be suppressed to non-detectable levels. Discuss with your doctor or a Gastroenterologist. There are many treatment options.

Yes and no: It's possible to convert from e antigen (hbeag) to e antibody (hbeab) with treatment of hepatitis b. This is a good thing, as it means your hepatitis is less active and you are less infectious to others. However, hepatitis b itself is not considered to be 'curable, ' and conversions from surface antigen (hbsag) to surface antibody (hbsab) rarely happen.
No cure for Hep B: There is no permanent cure available. The only thing would have been vaccinating for this common infection before you were exposed. Your viral load test is very low. It may not be active enough to put you on the hepatitis b medications that suppress the virus. But, if you have liver damage and your doctors are not treating you with the hepatitis b medications I would recommend that you ask why.
Possible yes: Natural history of hepatitis b leads to strong immunity against disease without treatment, Lamivudine is used for hepatitis b that is chronic (your body is unable to buld a strong immune responde against it and when the disease endangeres your liver function. Basically the drug slows down viral replication. So there is a chance it may lead to a complete halt of viral replication
No: Hepatitis b virus gets into the nucleus of liver cells, and its genetic information replicates when the liver cell does. So far, we don't know how to get that dna out of liver cells. Fortunately, many people are able to completely control hepatitis b with their own immune systems. If not, doctors may decide to put people on antiviral medications to stop the hepatitis b from making copies of itself.
What do you suggest if my younger sister have hepatitis b which is detected recently. Her HBV DNA quantity is 18383. can she be cured?
Needs to see a GI: Some other tests may need to be ordered by a GASTROENTEROLOGIST to see if she needs to be treated. They are several good drugs available to suppress the viral load - although complete cure is rare to find.
