Biliary colic: Gallstone attacks aka biliary colic is generally right sided, above the umbilicus, lasts 20 minutes or longer, associated with nausea and occasional vomiting. However, there are a small percentage of patients who experience the pain on the left side instead of the right. Fatty foods make it worse. Go for a surgery consult and bring a good friend. Gallstones can be dangerous to your overall health.

Can gallstones cause left sided upper abdominal pain? Pain comes and oes and does not seem to be food related but ultrasound dies show that I have one

Yes: Its not the classic presentation but gallstones can cause pain in several locations. I would make sure you don't have pain from other causes before removing your gallbladder so that you are not subject to an unnecessary operation, but if the workup of your pain reveals no other source than the stones, you would be a candidate for gallbladder removal.

Am 26yrs old and I was diagnosed with gallstones and I didn't know I had them but for the past two weeks I've bein having pain in my left lower side?

May not be gallstone: Gallstones rarely cause pain in the left lower side of the abdomen. Only after seeing your physician or gastroenterologist will you be able to determine what your pain is from.

I have gallstones and bloating. Typically people say lay on right side and feel some better. But lying on my left is helping relieve it. Meaning?

Not much: Laying on one side or other doesn't help differentiate different diagnosis accurately. Most pts with gallstones also have pain and nausea. If u only have bloating, it could b something else.

Dull pain at left side of abdomen for about three years. Was told have gallstones. True.?

Gall bladder on R: Usually gallbladder on the right, so unless you have situs inversus, , not likely to be gallbladder pain. Make have stones (many do) and no symptoms. Problem with abdominal pain is that there are MANY causes. Unable to diagnose remotely. Keep symptom and diet diary to see if connection. Regular follow up with health care provider to monitor symptoms, up date exam findings and begin testing.

Can having gallstones cause enlarged liver? I feel something firm to the left of where I thought it ended.

Can having gallstones cause enlarged liver? I feel something firm to the left of where I thought it ended.

No.: Generally speaking, neither the gallbladder nor the liver should be palpable in the absence of significant disease. If you feel an abdominal mass, I suggest that you make an appointment to see your primary care physician for a formal examination.

Further checking: It could be ulcer disease and needs upper endoscopy. After that, need a test for gall bladder called disida with cck. Still could be gall bladder disease.

Diagnosed as having gallstones last may. No pain felt until dec. Upper left side with frequent burping and flatus. Complications?

May not be the cause: You left side pain ; symptoms may not be due to gall stones, check with your doctor, you may have gastric problems, like peptic ulcer, hiatus hernia etc if that is the case you can observe the gall stones safely and treat the cause, with medication.

I'm having a constant pain on my left side, wondering is it possible to have gallstones in my pancreas if I had my gallbladder removed last year?

Retained gallstones: Although it's always possible to have retained gallstones after gallbladder removal, it is unlikely that they would be in the pancreas. It is possible for them to be in the bile duct and for them to cause pancreatitis, although the pain is usually either in the midline or in the right upper quadrant if that occurs. Your pain now is probably not due to your gallbladder. See your doctor. Good luck.

I have 3 small gallstones but don't cause problems. Can starting cholesterol meds cause gallbladder issues? Feeling achy pain rt. Side around waist

Unlikely: Some medications actually decrease the risk of forming gallstones (i.e., statins like atorvastatin). You have a known history of gallstones, so you may develop symptoms at any time. You should speak with your primary care doctor, as the pain on your right side may be related to the meds, either from muscles or the liver. You should have blood work done to be sure.

Episodes of pain on rght side, under ribs/above naval since dec. First blood test showed CRP 113 ALT 340 2nd blood test ALT 120 ngtve hepatitis usliver normal, found gallstones rpt blood test, causes?

Gallstones: If you have gallstones on ultrasound then your RUQ pain is most likely symptoms of your gallstones. The elevated CRP suggests inflammation and the alk phos suggests some type of biliary obstruction. I suggest you see a surgeon in your area to discuss options. Please take a copy of your ultrasound and labs.

I went to the ER for abdominal pains on the left side and back. It felt like gas. I have gallstones and my amylase ia elevated by 19 points. The doctor says don't worry. Can it be a gb attack?

Pancreatitis: It sounds like you have gallstones that led to a bout of pancreatitis (we cleverly call this: gallstone pancreatitis). Both gallstones themselves and pancreatitis can give you abdominal pain; pancreatitis more commonly causes back pain. The treatment is gallbladder removal--so it doesn't happen again.

Abdominal MRI found a "fluid filled gallbladder with no gallstones" & a 1 CM cyst in liver-can it b cause of nausea, diarrhea, rt side pain for 3+ mos?

Unlikely: If you have no gallstones and your common bile duct is the normal size, then it's probably not your gallbladder. A small liver cyst is likely to be incidental, and probably wouldn't cause your symptoms either. Go to see your local gastroenterologist for a further evaluation.

Don't drink, no gallstones. Have pain sometimes on left side undr breast to bottom of rib, found a kidney stone, could it be an ulcer or pancreatic to?

Yes it could: You're doing a pretty good job of making a differential diagnosis. Now if those items are still bothering you, then do yourself a favor and have a proper workup by a physician
