Can Gallbladder Cause Constipation
Can a gallbladder sludge cause constipation. I have constipation but have been diagnosed w/a gallbladder sludge?
Not usually: If the gallbladder is inflamed enough it could cause some difficulty with bowels. You may need to have the gallbladder out but would not expect this to cure your constipation. This problem may have to be worked up independent of gallbladder.
The gallbladder is a sac-like structure located under the right lobe of the liver. It is attached to the common bile duct via the cystic duct. The gallbladder can store bile when the bile is not needed, and can squeeze bile into the bile duct and intestine for digestion when a person eats larger ...Read more
No relation: Many causes for constipation...Most not related to gallbladder function or dysfunction.
After Gallbladder attack I have constipation and my Gallbladder feels swollen when I lay down but it does not cause any pain. Never had this before.
Call your PCP as U: May need to be seen or examined sooner than you think. You don't want pain, as it means you have to go to the ER, and if other signs persist that show you need surgical intervention, then you'll be laid up in the process. So, see your PCP for evaluation, and get in and be examined, and seen. Don't delay!
Can constipation cause some discomfort or swelling around or near the liver or where my gallbladder use to be?
Yes. And no.: Constipation can cause abdominal discomfort and swelling. Pain from constipation tends to be more general cramping pain but can certainly be perceived in different parts of the abdomen including the upper right part of the abdomen where the liver is. The gallbladder is small enough that any constipation pain is merely coincidental and not because it was removed.
Can a gallbladder with no stones only working at 15% cause constipation? My bowel habits have changed and I'm always constipated.
Not gall bladder: You should take fiber foods (see site below for info). Or you could take a fiber laxative like Metamucil. In either case drink enough water daily so that your urine is colorless. What can cause chronic constipation a whole year after gallbladder removal? I have tried miralax (polyethylene glycol) and other laxatives, nothing is working
Chronic contipation: Is probably not related to gallbladder surgery. You need to see a doctor to make sure nothing else is going on.

Will eating alot of corn tortillas cause constapation and crackers also I had my gallbladder out and was eating bland. I am not taking any meds?
Eat healthy foods: Eat healthy feel better, with fresh vegetables, salads, fruits, plenty of fluids and be active You will be fine and stop eating junk food
No: Constipation can coexist with gallbladder sludge, but there shouldn't be a cause and effect relationship.
Difficult: To tell without a medical history, physical exam & some tests. Usually gallbladder discomfort occurs a few hours after eating fatty or greasy foods with upper abdominal discomfort & nausea. Constipation can be various cramping feelings with cramps anywhere in the abdomen, not related to eating. Ultrasound tests the gallbladder. History of lack of bowel movement is constipation.
Been having kinda sharp pains in my abdomen area is this just constipation or could be something else? Also my gallbladder was removed in 07'
Maybe constipation: You are correct that often the slowing or hardening of stool passing through the intestine can cause abdominal pain. It is usually temporary. There are many OTHER causes of abdominal pain: ulcer, gastritis, irritable bowel syndrome, even appendicitis. Work on stool passage (fluids, fiber, activity), consider an OTC antacid (Rolaids) or generic Pepcid, (famotidine) and observe. If persists/worsens, see your doc
I don't have gallbladder from past 4yrs because of this I have constipation problem please help me outof this and I have sinus problem also.?
Fiber/antihistamine: You should take a fiber supplement for the constipation. It is unusual for post-gallbladder patients to have constipation, usually it causes diarrhea. If the fiber does not help, then be seen by your physician. For the sinus problems, try an antihistamine like Claritin (loratadine) or zyrtec.
I don't have gallbladder from past 4years because of this I have constipation problem and from past 1yr I'm suffering from sinus problem too. Plz help?
Fibers and fluids: Benefiber, metamucil, fibercon are all safe for use. Milk of magnesia or magnesium citrate on occasion is ok. Miralax (polyethylene glycol) can be used as well, but more expensive. Increase fluids and keep active. Roughages such as fresh/leafy veggies, fruits are healthy and will help constipation as well. Mineral oil can also be used because it is not absorbed. Not enough for sinus discussion. Consult doc. Good luck.
Is there something wrong with your gallbladder when your side and stomache hurts real bad and feels hard. I took Ex-Lax thinking I had constipation this has gone on for 4 days
Hello,: Hello, I can't diagose the reason for your pain. Severe constipation can be a cause for abdominal pain. The gallbladder is on the right upper side of the abdomen and it can also be a source of abdominal pain. Pain in the right lower abdomen that is severe can sometimes be caused by appendicitis. Pain in the left side of your abdomen can sometimes be related to inflammation or infection of the large intestine. Upper abdominal pain could be due to an ulcer. If your abdominal pain is severe and your belly is expanding and feels tight (hard); this would be a reason to get medical attention. If you have red/ maroon blood in your stool or bowel movements that are black, sticky and malodorous; that could be a sign of GI bleeding. Your symptoms are too non-specific to get a good handle on, but for the above described scenario you would definitely want to be medically evaluated.
Gallbladder was remove 1yrago. No symptoms until now I have the same pain and the same back pain. Constipation and lightheadedness what can it be?
Get Evaluation: Despite getting your gall bladder removed, can still get more stones. But there are other causes that would require more questions answered and an exam. Good luck!
Gallbladder gone. Sphinter of off oddi dysfunction. Nausea and constipation bad nausea haven't moved my bowels in a month or two and nausea is bad?
See GI: It sounds like you need to have your sphincter of oddi fixed by a GI physician who specializes in ERCP. Overall you need to be seen by the GI doctor for evaluation and treatment. That you have not moved your bowels in a month is not a good sign either- please have this evaluated soon
