If current: death.: Meningoccocal meningitis is a life threatening bacterial illness of the central nervous system lining called the meninges. I suspect your question is, if one has this disease as a young adult (most common age), and recovers, what are late term effects as an older adult. As far as i'm aware, if one has a full recovery after the acute event, there are not likely to be side effects later in life. ...Read more
Local reaction: As with any immunization, you can have a local reaction at the injection site. This can cause it to be a little sore, there may be a small lump, and sometimes even a little redness. The muscle it was injected into may be a little sore for a day or two. Cool compress, gentle massage, very helpful in reducing symptoms. ...Read more
Is there any way to know if neck pain is meningitis? it hurts when I'm still, move side to side and down. I've had it for 3 days now
See a doctor: The best thing to do is get professional help. Sometimes neck pain is just 'muscle pain' brought about by stress, studying in a fixed position, etc. The meninges - which are coverings over the spinal cord, could be inflamed however-and there are certain tests a doctor can do. If it's been 3 days already, this isn't a life threatening condition- but I'd still see the doc so you can get treatment. ...Read more

I had bacterial meningitis at the age of 3, was in coma for months.are there long term side effects from this disease?
Fly like symptoms for 4 days. No very painful head and neck on left side only. Can meningitis present with one sided pain and with no fever?
Not likely: Bacterial meningitis usually progresses rapidly once you have it and is very dangerous. Stiff neck and headache can be associated with any Upper respiratory tract infection. If you had four days of fever and these symptoms it would be more of an issue. Although, it is unlikely meningitis, I would see your doctor for a check up. ...Read more
