Fever: Although don't know what you mean by low grade, fever is commonly a response to an inflammatory process which causes release of cytokines like tnf or il-2, etc. These stimulate the hypothalamus to reset the body's thermostat. Not usual but: Food allergy is not usually treated with steroid. However when the dose is high, it may cause flushing and thus the sweating without fever. Food reactions usually subside in less than a day at best and thus i question the use of steroid unless he had hives which could not be controlled with large dose of antihistamine. ...Read more

I wouldn't: Pepto has salycilates which we don't give tom kids under 16 because of an association with liver failure/death (Reye syndrome).Wet burps that do not result in problems with hydration often decrease with age as the reflux improves.If the kid is growing well.
