Can Flonase Cause Globus Sensation
Been using Flonase + xlear for a couple months (helpful), but recently I've been experiencing a lump sensation when I swallow. Is this related?

Can Flonase cause your body to feel more anxious or like you have a little more adrenalin being released?
Unusual: Nasal steroid sprays such as Flonase are usually well tolerated. The most common side effect is nose bleeds. They don't cause a release of adrenalin. While anxiety is not a typical side effect, if the nose spray is stopped and the symptoms go away, that would suggest a link. It would be important to exclude other reasons for the anxiety symptoms. ...Read more
It shouldn't: Flonase on the nose should not cause thrush if used as recommended. Flovent may cause thrush especially if one does not gargle and rinse off the cortisone after spraying. The reason? Cortisone increases the sugar level at the throat making one disposed to have yeast overgrowth. ...Read more
My son was on a Nasonex (mometasone) or flonase what that caused him to pick at his face and itch he just had a tonsiloctomy done?

Can Flonase cause congestion? My friend suggested there is a "3-day wash period" to ensure optimal results. Is there any truth to this?
No: Flonase should not increase nasal congestion but then you are likely using it because of the increase in congestion in the first place. Since it takes at least 24 hrs for its effect to be noticeable and 5-7 more days to be optimal, you may note more nasal congestion initially because the process is just ongoing before Flonase starts working for you. ...Read more
Flonase+xlear+sinus wash has been helping a lot, but recently I've been experiencing congestion, could this be caused by the meds? Suggestions?
Nasal congestion: You may still need an over the counter decongestant like pseudo ephedrine (sudafed), take one to two tablets every 6 hours as needed. Avoid Neosynephrine nasal spray as it may cause a rebound effect if used for more than 3 days at a time- that means your congestion will worsen. The nasal sprays you are using do not cause this effect. ...Read more
Any natural decongestants? Sudafed causes insomnia. Flonase seems ineffective. Congestion affects sleep.
Is it safe to use Advair and Flonase together? Can they cause you to be shaky or nauseated? I worry about side effects due to sensitivities.
If you are taking high-dose Advair, the additive effective of Flonase may theoretically add to the steroid effects leading to a slightly higher risk of cataract. In practice, I have yet seen this problem. The long acting bronchodilator (LABA) portion of Advair can cause shakiness.
Ask your doctor to see if a trial with leukotriene modifier may be considered in place of LABA ...Read more

Unlikely: Although Flonase has been reported to be effective for certain non-allergic rhinitis, I am a little skeptical about this finding. Thus it is likely more effective in decongesting the nose when the problem is allergic. Even then the chances are likely 50/50. If this problem has been present for more than a month, you need to see an ENT. ...Read more

I take Flonase for sinus but left side still feels pressure that's goes to my eye and head. Really uncomfortable. Cause? What can I do?
Can flonase getting in your stomach cause diarrhea? I took an antibiotic at 1pm and flonase (tasted awful) at 6pm. An hour after flonase I had issues.
NO: Flonase should not cause diarrhea. It is more likely that the antibiotic you are taking is causing the diarrhea. If you are tasting the Flonase then you are likely using it incorrectly. Always point Flonase out and back (like towards your ear on the same side), and never sniff hard, or it will drip to the back of your throat and you will taste it. Just a tiny sniff should do. ...Read more
I am on Zyrtec (cetirizine) and Flonase for severe Hayfever. Neither should cause drowsiness but I feel severely tired&like I almost have to be reminded to breathe?
Can Flonase cause a floater in your eye? . Or is allergies more likely the cause of it? . I've just started having issues with allergies this year.
Not expected: A few small floaters may be ok but if you are noticing new ones popping up or large ones coming on, you need to call your eye doctor immediately. Allergy per se is not associated with floaters and unless you have overdosed on Flonase, systemic effect is not expected. If you have high myopia and are noticing floaters, an eye exam is also called for ASAP. ...Read more
29 year old daughter got steroid shot for sinusitis, currently using Flonase spray. Could one shot and the daily steroid use cause an 8 lb wt gain?
I've been using Flonase for almost three months 1 spray each nostril twice a day. Can it cause more mucus to build up in Eustachian Tube? .
No: Less. Many people sniff this up strongly which means that much of it goes to the throat and is swallowed. Read the instructions. It should be aimed to the side and retained inside the nose. Many people also take an antihistamine. NOT BENADRYL. Allegra, Claratin, Zyrtec. Generics are the same with lower price. ...Read more
What could be cause of chronic hoarseness? No other symptoms (fever, congestion, etc.). Flonase helps, been drinking water and using humidifier too.
Hoarseness: Hoarseness sounds are generated at the vocal cords. You state that Flonase helps. That is a steroid and as such has anti-inflammatory properties to it. Do you tell or scream a lot? Are you a singer? You should see an ENT who sees a lot of singers (preferably opera singers). He will want to want to look down your throat with a flexible nasopharingoscope as you talk. My daughter has yellow gook in her eyes and they are also watery. She does have allergies which she takes Flonase and an inhaler for! Is the yellow discharge caused by allergies as welll? And if so what can I give her?
Antihistamine: Although discharge from allergies is usually clear/watery, there can be some yellow/thicker appearance to it. Both eyes is more suggestive of allergy than infection. Consider over the counter antihistamine like zyrtec or Claritin (loratadine) for children. If it worsens, or the lids are matted together then an antibiotic drop may be needed. If the allergies cont. To bother, antihistamine drops can be rx'd. ...Read more
Can E-cigs cause Stridor? Polyphonic stridor after exercise/cough/chemicals. Inhaler 6x + a day. Take flonase/zyrtec for dust allergies, doesn't help.
Yes: E cig is not as innocuous as it may appear. The heated chemical-containing vapor (even if it is "organic") may irritate your throat. The best way to tell is not to use it for 2 weeks and see if your symptoms improve. If you are pregnant, it is unwise to smoke anything since this may adversely impact the health of your baby possibly for the rest of his life. ...Read more

What causes chronic nasal congestion which responds to afrin but not astelin, flonase, or sinus rinses? Can surgery even work in a case like this?
Afrin (oxymetazoline) rebound: Afrin (oxymetazoline) causes severe narrowing of the blood vessels in the nose and thus the effect on decongestion. However prolonged constriction leads to decrease blood supply to the tissue and may lead to permanent damages. The nose also becomes less responsive to afrin (oxymetazoline) with prolonged use. Flonase counteracts inflammation and Astelin is an antihistamine and neither constricts the blood vessels. ...Read more
