Hi, I'm 48 yo, have endometriosis, ovarian cysts, uterine fibroids, pre-menopausal. CA 125 was around 200's then 159 the last one was 210 any concerns?

Likely, no: CA 125 is not recommended as a screening tool for ovarian cancer when used in risk-based stratification. Meaning, assuming that your mom or sister didn't get diagnosed with ovarian cancer. Normal for women with endometriosis to have elevated CA-125. It sounds like your doctor has done Ultrasound to evaluate ovaries as well. Your MD knows your history and risk, likely this CA-125 level is normal

Endometriosis (Definition)

An abnormal condition where the lining tissue of the uterus, is located outside the uterus. The displaced tissue, just like the tissue lining the uterus, bleeds during each menstrual cycle. Endometriosis can be very painful, and can result ...Read more

Is it possible to remove deep seeded endometriosis from behind the uterus?

Is it possible to remove deep seeded endometriosis from behind the uterus?

Risk versus benefit: It is possible, however the risk benefit analysis may be in favor of non operative therapy. Endometriosis is misplaced uterine lining. It has escaped your uterus and takes up residence on other organs. Your surgeon is the best doc to discuss your risk. It is not simple to remove these pesky implants.

I have a bicurnuate uterus with endometriosis, can I still have a baby? I'm 30 years old.

I have a bicurnuate uterus with endometriosis, can I still have a baby? I'm 30 years old.

Possibly: The bicornuate septum can be removed but some persons have had satisfactory pregnancy implant one side of the uterus age 30 is becoming more common as a new mom. The endometriosis is a problem but if the tubes and uterus are present and open one can get pregnant. Hormonal medications may get in the way! Ask your gyn!

Diagnosed with 2 endometria... One 7mm and the other 12mm. She said I have an enlarged uterus. Does this mean I have endometriosis?

Diagnosed with 2 endometria... One 7mm and the other 12mm. She said I have an enlarged uterus. Does this mean I have endometriosis?

Probably not: If you were told you had 2 "endometriomas", you need to know that a pelvic sonogram may be "suggestive" of endometrial/endometriotic cysts but unfortunately may not be an accurate diagnosis. 2 small hemorrhagic cysts may resemble 2 endometriomas and will often resolve spontaneously. Not endometriosis. If your "enlarge uterus" has 2 "endometrias", you have a congenital anomaly, not endometriosis.

Is a uterus size 9x4x5cm witj a hemging cyst size18x9x13 normal with endomertiom of 6mm thicnkness in a 32 year old woman. That has endometriosis?

Is a uterus size 9x4x5cm witj a hemging cyst size18x9x13 normal with endomertiom of 6mm thicnkness in a 32 year old woman. That has endometriosis?

Depends: If you mean 18mmX9mmX13mm then yes, but if the measurement was cm (centimeters) then that's very large and needs to be addressed. A hemorrhagic corpus luteum (cyst that forms after ovulation) is normal and 18 mm (millimeters) in size is quite normal. Your endometrial thickness is fine as is your uterine size.

Does a "cloudy" uterus in an ultrasound mean endometriosis?

Does a "cloudy" uterus in an ultrasound mean endometriosis?

Unsure: It is not possible to determine with 100% certainty the presence of endometriosis with ultrasound findings. There are indications seen on ultrasound that are suggestive of endometriosis.

I had blocked tubes near the uterus and I was told it was due to endometriosis. How often does this happen?

I had blocked tubes near the uterus and I was told it was due to endometriosis. How often does this happen?

Common: Endometriosis often causes scarring and obstruction of the fallopian tubes. That is a common mechanism by which endometriosis can cause infertility. When endometriosis is severe, this problem is extremely common. It is not usually caused with very mild stage 1 endometriosis.

So does taking out my uterus and cervix cure endometriosis?

So does taking out my uterus and cervix cure endometriosis?

Possible: Definitive surgical treatment of endometriosis includes removing the ovaries and tubes in addition to the uterus. The cure rate is about 95% with that surgery. If you keep your ovaries, the cure rate is about 40% with the other 60% requiring additional surgery to remove the ovaries later.

Endometriosis related to thick uterus lining even after menopause?

Unlikely: Endometriosis is related to estrogen. After menopause a woman's estrogen goes way down and endomtriosis isn't as painful. Thick lining of the uterus after menopause needs an endometrial biopsy to make sure no precancerous cells are growing.

On an HSG test can you see abnormalities in the uterus? For example, endometriosis? Or signs of uterine cancer?

On an HSG test can you see abnormalities in the uterus? For example, endometriosis? Or signs of uterine cancer?

Some: You can see polyps or fibroids that are inside the uterine cavity. You can also see an abnormally shaped uterus. But you cannot see endometriosis or cancer. You might see damaged tubes and endometriosis is a common cause for that.

I have endometriosis I have pain all the time in my ovaries and uterus is there a treatment that will take this pain away?

I have endometriosis I have pain all the time in my ovaries and uterus is there a treatment that will take this pain away?

Endometriosis: If you have someone who has laproscoped you (the only definitive way to be sure) they can discuss options. If someone thinks you have it you can try anti-inflamatories like ibuprofen, or aleve (naproxen) but if you truly have it they won't help for long.

Endometriosis can make you shed lining on places other than your uterus. So if you're pregnant could you still bleed that 1st month because of this?

Endometriosis can make you shed lining on places other than your uterus. So if you're pregnant could you still bleed that 1st month because of this?

No: When you are pregnant your hormones are very high which begins to suppress endometriosis. The glands of endometriosis around the body do not actually bleed they just become activated.

I didn't have any symptom of endometriosis before I got pregnant then why I have tilted uterus what doc should do is it normal or will cause miscarriag?

No miscarriage: Having a tilt to one's uterus (forward, backward or midline) doesn't affect infertility or miscarriage at all. Sometimes women with retroverted uteri (tilted back), also have endometriosis. Endometriosis can cause infertility but does not increase risk for miscarriage. There's nothing to "do" about a tilted uterus, it's a normal variation. Best of luck and thank you for using healthtap!

I have endometriosis. I have gone through 4 IVF cycles. I want to get the fifth done but I've heard that uterus cancer can be triggered because of endometriosis. I am afraid. What should I do?

I have endometriosis. I have gone through 4 IVF cycles. I want to get the fifth done but I've heard that uterus cancer can be triggered because of endometriosis. I am afraid. What should I do?

No reason: I am not aware of anything linking ivf to uterine cancer. However, women with endometriosis have a 2x risk lifetime of ovarian cancer. So I don't think you need to worry about that. But it is unusual to not be pregnant after 4 cycles of ivf and the prognosis at this point would be significantly lower.

Do these endometrial implants or endometriosis act like normal endometrium inside the uterus?

Do these endometrial implants or endometriosis act like normal endometrium inside the uterus?

Not exactly: Although endometriosis tissue has the same components as the endometrium the behavior is different. Inside the uterus, the lining sheds itself monthly in an organized way. Endometriosis on the contrary, results in a festering inflammation that can cause pain, infertility and adhesions.

On pelvic examination, I had a retroplaced uterus and my doctor said I had endometriosis. How common is this?

On pelvic examination, I had a retroplaced uterus and my doctor said I had endometriosis. How common is this?

A retroplaced uterus: Is not uncommon, like being left handed. It is possible that on exam your physician felt nodules on the ligaments that support your uterus that could be endometriotic implants. A history of painful periods that resolved while on birth control pills may have also led your doctor to believe this. A retroplaced uterus doesn't = endometriosis though some with endo might have a retoplaced uterus.

Will I be able to conceive after surgery to remove polyups in my uterus and remove endometriosis from the ends of my tubes?

Odds will improve: While there is never a guarantee about whether anyone will conceive, polyps and endometriosis can certainly decrease your odds of conceiving. Removing them should increase your chances.

I have pos endometriosis prolapsed uterus just had my 1st ovulation in 4yrs with a endo thickness 6mm what's my chances of falling pregnant this month?

Ovulation: Patients with pcos and endometriosis can have a more difficult time than their peers without those issues. It is impossible to say what % someone has in one month to get pregnant. Congratulations on ovulating!
