I read high fiber diet can cause constipation and potentially anal fissures + diverticulitis from passing large stools. I recently passed large stools after starting 30g per day fiber. Should I worry?

What causes abd distention, excess hunger even w/constipation despite high fiber/fluid intake. Usually painless but extreme fatigue. No obstruction.
Start w/ evaluation: There are lots of reasons for abdominal bloating ; many are not due to the GI tract. Bowel "problems" often accompany GI disorders--whether functional or "organic." if pain with meals consider peptic (acid), biliary, or pancreatic disease. Bad constipation for ~4wks. Tried high fiber (3x rda!), more h2o, & stim. Laxatives (mildly helpful). Can lumbar ddd/torn disc at l5/s1 cause this?
Medications: The disc does not cause this, but the immobility (not moving because of the pain) and the medications you take for the pain sure can. Getting up and move around helps, mix some raw oatmeal with prune juice in a blender and make a milkshake/smoothie out of it, avoid any codones/narcotics will usually help. ...Read more

Relatively common: Stool retention is relatively common. Successful treatment requires a plan of scheduled emptying, long term use of stool softeners or wetting agents (like miralax), & work by the kid & parents for as much as a year or two.
