The major problem with lots of soda is the calories, and it is a major contributor to the epidemic of overweight, obese and diabetic individuals in the US and western world. It could: through several mechanisms. First, if you are drinking caffeinated beverages, there is a 'rebound' effect from too much caffeine, with a 'rush' of energy initially followed by a let-down later. If they are sugared drinks, it can do the same thing -raising your sugar levels but then causing a spike in Insulin that lowers your sugar and can cause fatigue.
