Bacteria/genetics: You could have a more aggressive strain of the bacteria that cause cavities, known as streptococcus mutans. You could also have more acidic saliva, or even enamel that is weak due to genetics. Acid reflux: Fat in milk increases acid secretion. Certain meds, fatty foods, caffeine, soda pop relax the ring muscle between the esophagus & stomach (supposed to tighten to keep acid contents in stomach). Alkaline foods, sodium bicarbonate, acid blockers (zantac (ranitidine) & others), acid pump blockers (prilosec, prevacid, & others) can reduce the acidity and help heal inflammation from reflux. ...Read more
