So I've been taking doxycycline hyclate 100mg for chlamydia for a week Thursday to Thursday twice a day. Question is how long to wait to have sex?
The most sure way: Is to repeat the urine PCR test that will confirm you are cleared. Then you won't have to worry abaout incomplete treatment but in general once you are finished with the antibiotics course you are most likely cured. However, there can be treatment failures so if you want to know for sure, get a repeat test to document clearance. ...Read more

Will antibiotics (doxycycline hyclate) for chlamydia get in the way of my Depo-Provera shot for birth control?
Birth Control & Meds: There are some other medications that can interfere with your birth control, however, and if you are taking any of them you should always use back-up contraception. Griseofulvin, phenytoin (dilantin), carbamazepine (tegretol), phenobarbital, topirimate (topamax), st. John's wort (herbal supplement), but in general, your birth control will not be affected by any run-of-the-mill antibiotic. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Not the gonorrhea: Doxycycline 100mg twice a day for 7 days is a treatment for chlamydia. Treating gonorrhea requires oral Cefixime or a shot of ceftriaxone. If a person is getting treated for one std, he or she should be sure to get tested for other std's! of course, std's are from sharing, so partners need testing and treatment also. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
I've been taking doxycycline to treat chlamydia and i've vomited several times after 30-45 minutes of taking it, am i still being treated?
Probably yes...: Apparently, you got gi-upset as its side effect; but a duration of 3-45 minutes should be enough for absorption for most of oral drugs. Did you see the remnant of pills in the vomitus? Meanwhile, the pace of possible clinical resolution of chlamydia-related symptoms may help tell the story. But for worse, it's always possible to try other drugs with less side effects as needed. Work with doctor... ...Read more
I'm currently on Doxycycline 100mg to treat Chlamydia. Dosage says one tablet a day for 10 days. Is this correct because the pharmacy gave me 30 pills?
Not correct: Once daily treatment isn't enough. The standard doxycycline treatment is 100 mg twice daily for 7 days. Did she maybe give you extra drug to give to your partner? (Ideally partners should be examined, tested and treated by a doctor. But it is common to use "expedited partner treatment" like this if partner is unlikely to see a doctor or clinic.) I am being treated fro chlamydia with 10 days of doxycycline twice per day. How soon after treatment is over, should I retest?
How soon before sex?
Recommended is 3 mo: The current cdc guidelines are for retesting in 3 months. The reason the recheck is not right away is that the concern isn't resistant strains. There is virtually no resistance to the antibiotics commonly used to treat chlamydia. The problem is that reinfection rate is so high. It's safe to have sex again if you are certain that your partner has also been treated. ...Read more

Been using doxycycline for years for acne. Could this treat chlamydia or would I be resistant to it?
Probably not: Long term exposure to any antibiotic allows bacteria to develop resistance in their cell walls, making the antibiotic ineffective. The CDC(Center for Disease Control) has long ago recommended to physicians to judiciously use antibiotics wisely and only if truly indicated. We are running out of effective antibiotics for medical use because of this problem which bodes poorly for our futures. ...Read more
