Can dormant HPV be spread?

Can dormant HPV be spread?

Yes, but...: Yes, but the type of hpv that causes abnormal pap smears in women doesn't cause any untoward symtpoms for men. Also, there is no testing in men for that particular type of hpv. For women, the relevant testing is the pap smear or an hpv dna test of the cervix.

Hpv (Definition)

Human Papillomavirus (HPV) is the most common sexually transmitted infection. There are over 100 different types of HPV that causes warts in different areas of the body. HPV is incredibly common and almost all sexually active men and women get it during their lifetime. Most of the time HPV does not cause any symptoms or complications. However, A limited number of these HPV viruses are pathogenic and if not monitored carefully can be responsible for causing cervical and penile cancer. Some of these viruses have been ...Read more

Does high risk HPV be spread in the dormant stage?

Does high risk HPV be spread in the dormant stage?

Yes.: Some people (especially men, but also some women) can be 'carriers' of hpv and not have warty lesions or precancerous changes that are visible to the eye. These 'silent carriers' may spread the human papillomavirus to sexual partners without knowing that they carry the virus.

Can men die of HPV if it lies dormant?

Can men die of HPV if it lies dormant?

HPV can cause cancer: Hpv infections an cause genital warts or even cancer, although this isn't likely. Any persistent sores should prompt a visit to a dr. The hpv vaccine can help lower the risks of warts, female cancers (vaginal, vulvar, cervical), male cancers (penis, anus) and oral cancers.

Hpv has been a topic in our biology syllabus. I have heard that HPV lies dormant in 80% of the global population but it not expressed. True / false?

Hpv has been a topic in our biology syllabus. I have heard that HPV lies dormant in 80% of the global population but it not expressed. True / false?

Simplistic: There are dozens of different strains of hpv. Almost everybody has met one or another of the strains that cause skin warts. Here's hoping that either you do not meet the strains that cause cancer of the penis, or if you do meet ig, that you don't develop it, or if you do develop it, that you get the lesions excised before it can hurt you badly.

What happens if you contract the HPV virus, does it lay dormant forever?

Possible. ..: Contacting HPV may not necessarily contract it. Contracting it does mean you will have clinical appearance of wart lesion, but may become its carrier. This situation reflects the balance of the infectivity of the HPV subtype you contracted and host (you) immune defense ability. While disliking to hear such uncertainty, this is the life reality yet we have to face and deal with. More? Ask Doc. ...

6yrs back my pap and hpv was negative. Does it mean I didn't have it or it could be dormant?

6yrs back my pap and hpv was negative. Does it mean I didn't have it or it could be dormant?

Please explain: If you had a blood test that showed no antibodies to HPV, you had not been infected with the strains they tested for. A negative pap just means there is no detected abnormality at that time.

When an HPV infection is cleared by the body, is it 100% gone or does it just go dormant? Do any traces of it remain?

When an HPV infection is cleared by the body, is it 100% gone or does it just go dormant? Do any traces of it remain?

See answer: It is a very good question. For most people it appears that the immune system ultimately succeeds in clearing the virus from the body or that the virus is suppressed below our current ability to detect it. It is unknown what proportion of hpv infections go latent, nor what proportions are truly cleared by the body.

I am a male. How long can hpv remain dormant (i.e. not contagious) in my system before becoming active and contagious?

I am a male. How long can hpv remain dormant (i.e. not contagious) in my system before becoming active and contagious?

It varies for each: Person. We don't know why HPV becomes active in certain people and not in others, but there is no way to predict whether it will cause warts on your genitals or not. A very important thing to remember is that as long as you have HPV, you can still transmit it, even if you don't have visible warts. That's why doctor's recommend condom use and the HPV vaccine for sexually active men and women.

Does the HPV virus remain in your body for a life, whether it's dormant or active? I have been with only 2ppl in my life I am a WRECK :, (Plz help me

Does the HPV virus remain in your body for a life, whether it's dormant or active? I have been with only 2ppl in my life I am a WRECK :, (Plz help me

No it will clear: The vast majority of HPV infections will clear in 6 months on their own; almost all w/in 2 years. If you have it again, it will be due to re-infection. Unfortunately, there is no way to prevent infection. Condoms do not work for HPV. Men often carry it on testicles. However with screening you will prevent disease from HPV. See this http://www. Cdc. Depends: If you are discussing visible the active phase, like genital warts, these often eventually go away or respond to treatments. However, the virus is from a family of viruses well known for going dormant in the host body with the potential for recurrence. You tend to have it forever, but it may never return to an active state. Infants can develop genital warts if mom was actively shedding at delivery.

What is the likely that I transmit and give HPV if I don't have CIN (infection)? How do I know that it's dormant??

What is the likely that I transmit and give HPV if I don't have CIN (infection)? How do I know that it's dormant??

Hard to say/ can't: People can spread HPV during any period when they are shedding the virus. People can shed intermittently or go dormant and never pass it. No one can know for sure when or if they are shedding virus.

I'm 52, married over 26 years and recently diagnosed with positive HPV, negative pap. I've never had a positive pap. Does HPV lie dormant?

I'm 52, married over 26 years and recently diagnosed with positive HPV, negative pap. I've never had a positive pap. Does HPV lie dormant?

It can: Unfortunately, if you have never been tested for hpv before, the hpv could have been acquired any time from the first moment you became sexually active until recently. Not all people with hpv will develop cervical cellular abnormalities so your history of normal pap smears does not solve the dilemma. For more information www. Askyourgynecologist. Org.

Some docs say HPV (warts) is completely cleared by the body eventually. Others say never-it lies dormant. So what's the verdict? Dormant or cleared?

Both: Some people will completely clear the virus. In others it will lay dormant just above the basement membrane in the cell layers. You can not predict who this will happen to or do anything to change it other than avoiding smoking which decreases the risk of clearing the virus. Unless you are having manifestations of hpv the presence of the virus is not something to focus on.

When HPV leaves the body & Pap test is negative, does it mean it's 100% gone? Or is it dormant? How is detected and assured that it's gone completely?

Continue Pap screen: HPV is not something you need to worry about unless it causes dysplasia (precancerous lesions) which you will catch early if you do your regular Pap screening. Once you're negative for the virus, avoid unprotected sex with potentially infected men

How long can the human papilloma virus lay dormant?

How long can the human papilloma virus lay dormant?

Varies: Once cells are invaded by hpv, a latency (quiet) period of months to years may occur. The exact incubation time is unknown, but most investigators believe the incubation period is 3 months. It is now known that some hpv infections are actually transient and temporary, and that the body may actually eliminate the virus successfully. This is most likely when infected at a young age.

Can HPV lie dormant f. 29 yr before becoming anal cancer?

Can HPV lie dormant f. 29 yr before becoming anal cancer?

Yes: Yes hpv often lies dormant. That is, people encounter the virus when they are young and then normal paps, or no evidence of lesion, until one has an abnormal pap or a lesion in older age. If this question is regarding you, your doctor should be able to tell whether your cancer is related to anal cancer, as not all anal cancers are due to hpv.

Negative biopsy, gynaecologist says that the HPV virus is there but it is not doing anything. Is HPV completely dormant in all parts of my body?

No: The HPV virus does not reside in all parts of your body, instead it tends to reside in the junctions where one cell type turns into another, one of which is the cervix which is pretty much the junction between the vagina and the uterus. You will still need to get pap smears, though it is not impossible for your body to clear the virus on its own.

Why do people/doctors say HPV can sometimes clear up on its own? Don't they mean HPV can lay dormant. Viruses never just go away! Can't rid a virus.

HPV can go away: Hpv is a common virus that most of us are exposed to by virtue of being human beings who are sexually active. It is an issue when it causes genital warts and pre-cancerous changes of the cervix. It is possible for the virus to lay dormant in the areas where exposure occurred, but it can also be cleared. Your chances of clearing the virus are better if you do not smoke!
