I had a laparoscopy done june 7th 2013 and the doctor found scar tissue on both ovaries but did not remove it. Why wasn't it removed?

Scar is old: You had a diagnostic laparoscopy for pain on june 7 2013. The doctor found scar tissue on the ovaries but did not remove the scar tissue because it would cause more damage to the ovaries. The scar tissue could be from previous infections or inflammation. The laparoscopy also allowed your doctor to look for infection or inflammation from the bowel. ...Read more

A doctor told me that scar tissue is the reason of pain in surgical side of my hernia repair. If I get it removed surgically will it cause pain again?

Last resort: Inguinodynia, also known as hernia post-operative chronic pain syndrome, occurs between 1-10% of hernia repairs. Most resolve within 1 yr, but more severely affected patients require injections with local anesthetics and corticosteroids to reduce or eradicate the neuropathy symptoms. A minority of neuropathy patients are a failure on medical therapy and therefore require surgical intervention. ...Read more

Had small lesion on penis shaft. Urologist removed. (Not std, not cancerous) After, the skin turned white. 6 mo later, still white. Scar tissue? Ok?

Depigmented: To call it a scar I would need to see its characteristics relative to surrounding tissue. It could be that or the tissue may not have had time to generate the normal skin pigment for the area, which can take years. I wouldn't loose any sleep over it. ...Read more

Doctors advised me it was too risky to try and have another baby because the last baby I lost attached to scar tissue and I almost bled to death.

Trust your doctor!: I don't know how you can expect any doctor here, who does not know you or your history, to render a different opinion that your own doctor who apparently saved your life. Certainly no one can tell you to ignore his or her advice. You might consult in person with another obstetrician but they would need access to all of your records and still won't be as qualified as the doctor who operated on you. ...Read more

My question for you is I had surgery on my lower backit didn't heal until 2 months after the doctor put drains in can scar tissue be broken up?

My question for you is I had surgery on my lower backit didn't heal until 2 months after the doctor put drains in can scar tissue be broken up?

Yes and No: Scar tissue breaks up on its own or requires further intervention. Typically the drains don't have much to do with the scar tissue. My assumption is drains were placed to reduce a collection of fluid. Many times people develop a seroma after surgery and if it doesn't resolve or reabsorb the drains can help reduce it. ...Read more

Hi doctors, was just wondering what is a scar tissue on eye called?

Depends: Where is the scar located? Most commonly it is an opacity on the cornea -the clear window on the front of the eye- from disease or trauma. There are some words used to describe it such as nebular, filimentary, nummular, etc. Depending upon the appearance. But all are called "scar" because that is what it is. Lids and other parts of the tissues around the eye can also be scarred. ...Read more

Can you tell me how can your doctor diagnose you with having scar tissue or adhesions on or around your ovaries?

Can you tell me how can your doctor diagnose you with having scar tissue or adhesions on or around your ovaries?

Take a look: A doc can give a presumptive diagnosis, followed by recommendation for procedure to confirm diagnosis. Adhesion is very common and over used as a source of pain. Typically a surgery to look inside, see the adhesion, resect them or make an additional diagnosis is definitive. Okay to have a risk/benefit discussion with your doc about this. Take a friend. Be well. ...Read more
