Can a dental abscess cause cardiomyopathy?

Can a dental abscess cause cardiomyopathy?

Not a known cause...: Having a dental abscess can cause bacteria and their byproducts to leech into the bloodstream and travel to other parts of the body. In healthy people the immune system can usually hold its own but sometimes the bacteria can cause changes to the lining of the arteries or other organs. So if you think that you may have a dental abscess then by all means seek treatment for it. ...Read more

Is pericarditis seen on CTA? Also can pericarditis be caused by dental abscess? And if so, how long after dental abscess would symptoms occur?

Is pericarditis seen on CTA? Also can pericarditis be caused by dental abscess? And if so, how long after dental abscess would symptoms occur?

Pericarditis: Pericarditis can be seen on CT scan imaging - actually just yesterday I saw a case. It depends to a large degree on the duration of symptoms, plus the organism involved (germ) and other factors. A dental abscess could pre-dispose to this because of possible bacteremia -or circulation of germs after a nasty infection. The length of time could be anywhere from a few days to weeks before onset. ...Read more

Wasn't fully answered... Can a dental abscess be hard and if so what causes it and would it causes white and dark patches on tossils and throat?

Wasn't fully answered... Can a dental abscess be hard and if so what causes it and would it causes white and dark patches on tossils and throat?

A lot to cover...: 1) hard? Yes. Long term infections grow inside the bone causing the bone to expand. It is hard because it is encased in bone, or under high pressure under the soft tissue. 2)unsure if i've seen these cause patches on the tonsils. Sounds like maybe strep throat or something else. See an endodontist/dentist for tooth eval, and physician for the throat. ...Read more

Would a dental abscess cause most of the back teeth on the left side of my mouth to hurt? I have a white pimple above a tooth and the pain jus started

Would a dental abscess cause most of the back teeth on the left side of my mouth to hurt? I have a white pimple above a tooth and the pain jus started

Dental abscess: Teeth that have a small pimple have been infected for a relatively long time. After the tooth nerve dies, the bacteria persists and advances to out of the tooth and into the supporting jaw bone. Over time it spreads and the pimple forms as a vent for pressure relief. It is very common for this eventual pain to radiate to other teeth, but the source is usually just one tooth. See an endodontist. ...Read more

No relation: There is no relation, it's actually recommended that you get the whitening after cleaning . Whether this teeth had a cavity (decayed) or had a poor fitting old filling, the nerve had to be infected or necrotic ( dead) for the teeth to need root canal treatment . In rare cases the whining gel might irritate that old filling if its in the front teeth causing the symptoms to appear , rx in needed. ...Read more

Why does a tooth abscess not spread and cause an infection of the other teeth?

Why does a tooth abscess not spread and cause an infection of the other teeth?

You're right...: Most tooth abscesses rarely affect adjacent teeth. This is a remarkable sign of a healthy immune system that can hold the infection 'at bay.' the infection tends affect the supporting bone and not destroy blood supply or nerves. If the cause of the infection is removed (extraction or root canal) our bodies can heal the affected bone while the blood/nerves still survive. Amazing isn't it? ...Read more
