I have headaches that start at 5am every morning at work. What can I do to or take to prevent it? MRI n CT scans shows nothing.

Delayed, high dose: In general, ct scans do not by themselves cause cancer. You would have to have had dozens upon dozens to risk the development of cancer. Having said that, when radiation induced cancers development, they are usually in the field of radiation, and usually are sarcomas (soft tissue malignancies). Based on your age, you would have to have had hundreds of cts in a short time 15-20 years ago. ...Read more

I had 2 quality CT scans 10 month apart. 1st clear 2nd shows 4mm nodule. Rescan or insignificant? I suffer from fatigue and had some weightloss.

I would need to know: ...why the 2nd scan was done. Do you have on going respiratory problems? Do you smoke or have workplace exposure to dust, smoke or noxious chemical fumes? What other tests have been done re: fatigue & weight loss? A 4mm nodule is very small. A single chest CT exposes you to the equivalent of 2+ years of natural radiation exposure. Talk to your MD about benefit vs risk of a 3rd scan. ...Read more

I hear you: Often we focus on cause and effect. We look for one thing to work and resolve the problem. I suspect that there are a combination of factors contributing to your migraines/headaches and as a result it is a combination of factors that will help. Working with a caregiver who can make an accurate diagnosis and is savvy regarding the various factors is your best bet. Ask around. ...Read more
