Yes, baby knows: Because you and the baby are linked by blood and hormones, the developing fetus will sense changes in those chemicals. Studies have proven that babies can hear in utero and respond to music as well. How about seeing a MD or therapist and get treatment for your "baby blues". ...Read more

Can hysterically crying and fighting be harmful to my baby? 20w5d.

Can hysterically crying and fighting be harmful to my baby? 20w5d.

Maybe: Any harm you do to yourself can potentially harm the baby. Also babies are smart. They respond to music and to your emotions and moods. Your voice, and the sounds close to you will be familiar to the baby when it is born. If you do this once it won't harm the baby. If you have a habit of doing it, your baby will learn this habit and make your parenting much harder. Best wishes! ...Read more

Can me crying while pregnant harm the baby? Does crying effect the growth of the baby? I'm 36weeks and I been very emotional my whole pregnancy!

Crying or blues?: Crying itself will not harm the baby. If however, you notice that you are sad most of the time, feel hopeless, without energy and are having difficulty getting your daily activities done, please discuss with your family doctor or obstetrician. Perinatal depression can be serious and can indirectly affect the baby. ...Read more

Depressed & pregnant: Please see a psychiatrist, as you sound very depressed. You need help now so you'll be able to nurture your baby. Talk therapy may be useful, but you may also need medication. Your OB and psychiatrist can collaborate, discuss risks/benefits with you, & help you feel better. Reaching out for other family support is very important also, esp. If baby's father isn't being supportive now. ...Read more

Does crying hurt the baby during pregnancy? Can the baby feel when I'm upset? Does crying effect the baby growth or effect the baby an Any way?

No: Your emotions don't have any overt affect on the baby other than the fact that when you're sad a lot you may not feel like eating properly. Pregnancy is a very emotional time for most women. A good cry can be helpful as well in letting out some of that emotion and stress. ...Read more

When traveling w/6 months old to country that is 9 hours ahead will it cause my baby sleep all day(now he sleeps all night)and be awake through night?

When traveling w/6 months old to country that is 9 hours ahead will it cause my baby sleep all day(now he sleeps all night)and be awake through night?

It may take a few: days for your baby (and you) to adjust to the time difference. Depending on when you are leaving, you may be able to help that transition, but adjusting his sleep schedule a little bit at a time before you go. Otherwise you can keep him as awake as you can during the daytime once you're there and hopefully move the schedule to be more accommodating to the new time. ...Read more

Can raising voice or being emotional hurt baby at 18 weeks pregnant?

Can raising voice or being emotional hurt baby at 18 weeks pregnant?

No: emotional stress in general isn't something you need to worry about. We all have bad days and get upset or sad and sometimes lose our cool. While it might create drama in your life if you do it too much, which may make home life difficult for your child as he/she grows up it isn't harmful in general. Its more of an issue if you harm yourself when upset, refuse to eat or drink, or suffer abuse. ...Read more

2 y/o twins are very fussy, "fight" during feeding&sleeping, get angry when hears "no", my 8 m/o baby can be "spoiled" while playing/watching them?

No, educated!: Younger siblings have been shown to learn much of what they need from older sibs. Twin behaviors are often kind of exaggerated versions of singleton behaviors, and younger sibs have no problem understanding how they are different. Besides, keeping a younger sib away from olders would deprive them of more than half the fun!! ...Read more

38-day old baby needs to be picked up all night to remain sleeping. Cry it out method can solve this? Does it have psychological effects on my baby?

Baby sleep: You have to be brave, picking up the baby all the time will just make him used to it & it will be very difficult for him to sleep on his own, try to swaddle, gently shake or rock, make sh sound, soft low soothing music until he falls asleep then gently put him down to sleep on his back, don't give up & keep trying. Good luck. ...Read more

My 2 months old baby is sleeping very well during the day but she cannot sleep easily at night and stay awake and crying until 4am. What can I do?

Sleep hygiene: For a 2 mo old baby, the best sleep hygiene advice is continuity. Make sure the baby goes to sleep after a good feeding, burping and diaper change, sometimes a bath before bedtime helps them get a bit more sleepy. Quiet and cool sleeping area helps. Reading to them before bedtime, even at this age helps calm them down. Avoid feeding in the middle of the night, avoid noise and interruptions. ...Read more

My 3 week old will often cry for 3 minutes when I attempt to put him to sleep, but then he sleeps fine. Are those 3 minutes of crying damaging?

No: Please do not give credit for advanced ideas of abandonment/suffering to an infant with a new/ immature brain. Fussing is their only means of communication and is often used as a marker to acknowledge change. If baby was comfy with you,s/he may not want "change" but settles and accepts it as not so bad. ...Read more
