Lots of things..: First, make sure the little guy is getting plenty of water - he should be drinking 30-40 ounces daily if stools are that hard. 8 ounces of it can be juice - apple or prune best if constipated. Make sure not overdoing the milk - 16-20 ounces max for a 1 year old who is constipated. Finally, make sure enough fiber in diet - whole grains, roughage.
