Can Chlamydia Not Show Up On Test
Had std test but was still on period with bleeding. Will chlamydia still show up on test if I have it?
Chlamydia is a curable sexually transmitted infection that is caused by the bacteria chlamydia trachomatis. This bacteria infects mucous membranes of the urethra, vagina, cervix, anus, rectum, eyelid, and throat. Chlamydia may be asymptomatic but some patients experience pain or burning during urination, nausea, fever, vaginal discharge, ...Read more
Depends: There are five tests for chlamydia. One, a culture can take three days. The others are rapid tests of varying degrees of accuracy. You and your doctor can decide which is appropriate in your circumstance. If positive, be sure to have all your consorts treated. See: http://www. Webmd. Com/sexual-conditions/chlamydia-tests.
Chlamydia: I believe the accuracy of the test is slightly higher at a week after exposure.
A bit too early: The exact time for reliable chlamydia testing by NAAT isn't certain, but 3 days probably is a bit early. A negative result would be somewhat reassuring, but probably not conclusive. It would be safer to wait until 5 days or so, unless there is some urgency (e.g. if you have abdominal pain or other symptoms of a complication like PID).
Tough question!: The test for chlamydia is simple. Most people can have the test carried out on a urine sample. Some people have a swab test (a small cotton bud). The swab is used to gently wipe the area where you might have chlamydia, to collect some cells. The cells are then tested for infection. The incubation period here is 1-3 weeks. Some (i dare say many) people never have symptoms though.
What is the longest period after chlamydia exposure that can pass before it will definitely show up in a test?
Not known: The longest time from std chlamydia exposure until it shows up in a lab test is not known; because everybody is different, everyone contacts a different number of germs, people's memories of events are not that accurate, each test type is different, tests are not 100% accurate, etc... If a person is, for example, negative at 2 weeks and at 2 months, but positive later, it's likely a new infection.
Since lgv is a type of chlamydia will it show up in my chlamydia test if I have it? Or is there a seperate test? Pap swab for chlamydia
Dif tests: Lgv is not a very common disease in the us. Traditional testing for chlamydia is not likely to detect it. If you think you have lgv then you definitly need to be seen by a physician.
How long after exposure does Chlamydia URINE test show accurate results? (I tested day 12 and negative) is this accurate?
Yes: Tesst used for chlamydia detection are generally very sensitive, although testing the cervix is slightly more sensitive than the urine. You can feel comfortable with a negative test at this point although you should see a gynecologist for additional STI testing if you had unprotected sex. For more info: www. AskYourGynecologist. Org
Of course: If the individual has symptoms other "germs " may cause the problem....they don't have to be like chlamydia. If the culture showed "chlamydia ", then it must be it
How can you tell I got tested for PID on my test result paper? It shows my test results for chlamydia and gonorreia and abbreviations.
Would a culture test to check for gonorrhea also show chlamydia if it were present? I had a test and gonorrhea was neg but it didn't mention chalamydia
Chlamydia test: A culture test for gonorrhea will only check for gonorrhea; it won't show chlamydia even if you have it. It's not clear why you were tested for just one STI, not all of them. Chlamydia is VERY common in NZ. There's a simple test that checks for both gonorrhoea and chlamydia on the same sample; usually urine for men. Suggest you ask your doc for this chlamydia test if you've not had one.See 2 more doctor answers
Chlamydia-will oral or anal type show up in a urine sample or is there a different test for those types?
Different type: Oral and anal chlamydia will not show up on a urine test. Those have to be tested by directly swabbing the tissue involved.
I was tested for chlamydia via a urine test which came back negative, however, if I was positive for HPV would that show in the urine test results?
Had chlamydia test on period, negative, but worried. Would infection still show, or would the blood distort it? I was told test would still pick it up
Usually 2-3 days: The standard test for chlamydia generally is positive within 2-3 days of catching the infection, and always within a week. Same for gonorrhea, usually tested automatically at the same time. But make sure the lab is doing the test on urine or a swab from the urethra (in men) or vagina (in women). Blood testing doesn't accurately diagnose chlamydia or gonorrhea.
If chlamydia was contracted anally, would it show up on a blood test or regular pap smear? Or would an anal pap be the best option?
Anal pap: Anal pap smears and direct pcr testing at the anus should be diagnostic. Regular pap, urine testing for chlamydia are also suggested.
Is it possible for other infections to show as chlamydia on test results for a male, who has not been sexually active for a lengthy period of time?
Not likely: Depending on the type of chlamydia test he had, they are generally highly accurate. It's more likely that he has an old infection that has not been bothering him for a long time. Men can harbor this infection without symptoms indefinitely.See 1 more doctor answer
