Can chlamydia come back even after both of us have been treated?

Should have TOC: A "test of cure" should be done to make sure that your chlamydia has been cured before you have sex with each other again. If you have both had negative tests and then chlamydia comes back, it is likely that someone is having sex outside of your relationship. ...Read more

After having chlamydia for the first time and being treated. Can it come back even if me and my partner are protecting ourselves?

Treating Chlamydia: If you are appropriately treated and you have no new exposures the infection cannot come back. But, if your partner or you are not fully treated before resuming your relationship then yes, you can get re-infected. ...Read more

I was treated for chlamydia 2 years ago and was checked after 3 months and it was gone. Is it possible it has come back on its own?

Chlamydia: No, it does not come back on its own. We know that your initial infection was successfully treated by getting a negative 3 months after taking your medicine. If you have ben tested and are positive again, then this is a new infection that you got from a partner. BOTH of your will need to be treated. ...Read more

Had chlamydia a couple of months ago & was treated. Haven't had sex of any kind since, can it come back?

Yes: This is the kind of infection you can get multiple times, as you develop no immunity. Any exposure to a carrier source can bring on a new infection. Once treated and cured, it does not re-emerge on it's own. ...Read more

I'm curious if chlamydia can come back on its own. I had it in Aug 2013, after meds got a retest. Came back neg. Just curious if it comes back

Not really: When it is appropriately treated it is killed off. However, any re-exposure can bring it back. Some people can carry the germ for prolonged periods with no symptoms and pass it to their partners. ...Read more

Is it possible for chlamydia to come back on its own even though I was cleared of it 2 years ago when I was pregnant with my son?

Is it possible for chlamydia to come back on its own even though I was cleared of it 2 years ago when I was pregnant with my son?

Not really: If you were treated with the normal protocol of meds 2 years ago the infection would clear. Some actually do a test to confirm this weeks or months after treatment. Although it may be upsetting I would consider any new infection from a new exposure, not a hibernating germ that was not cleared the 1st time. Either way, your contact needs to be treated when you are. ...Read more

I had a positive result for chlamydia. I had a negative test 3 months prior and Iv been with the same person. Why did their test come back negative? What are all the factors to a false negative test for chlamydia?

I had a positive result for chlamydia. I had a negative test 3 months prior and Iv been with the same person. Why did their test come back negative? What are all the factors to a false negative test for chlamydia?

Chlamydia in partner: This happens a lot. Your partner was infected but his immune system cleared it before testing. Or he took an antibiotic (maybe for something else) and it cured him before testing. You had it from distant past partner and current partner was lucky and didn't catch it. The tests miss some infections. Or he isn't being truthful about other partners. Most important: you both need treatment. ...Read more

I was told to come back in for repeat test for chlamydia do that mean I have chlamydia, before the first test I use Monistat 7 is that y?

See answer: What you want to know and ask is whether a chlamydia test has already been done and if so, what were the results? If test was done and positive, you should have been placed on an antibiotic and will sometimes ask you to do another test to make sure it is gone. They may be asking you to come in just to screen for presence of chlamydia/gc. Monistat is used for rx of a yeast infection, not chlamydia. ...Read more

I was on doxycycline for chlamydia got retested and was clean. However I didn't take the last 2 pills and have symptoms again. Did it come back?

Probably not: Missing just one day of doxycycline isn't likely to make any difference. Chlamydia causes the same sorts of symptoms in women as many genital infections, like yeast, bacterial vaginosis, and many more. Best to recheck with your doctor, and to be completely safe, have a follow-up chlamydia test (at least 3 weeks after finishing treatment, or it might still be positive from the original infection). ...Read more

Can chlamydia cause my pap to come back with lsil mild dysplasia?

Can chlamydia cause my pap to come back with lsil mild dysplasia?

Yes, but the reason: Chlamydia is a sexually transmitted disease. Lgsil is caused by hpv, also a sexually transmitted disease. Therefore, if you have one form of std, you could easily have another. After treatment, you should use condoms and barrier methods of contraception to prevent stds--and perhaps talk to potential partners before sex so you don't get another infection. Was diagnosed with chlamydia 5 weeks ago and took azithromycin. I got retested today + am wondering how likely it is that the test will come back pos?

Very unlikely: Azithromycin is highly effective against chlamydia; there is under a 5% chance (1 in 20) this test will be positive. However, your doctor or clinic may recommend you have yet another test at 3-6 months. Late treatment failures are more common than early ones, and many people become reinfected. Therefore, late retesting is recommended routinely in the US; I don't know UK policy on this. ...Read more

How to relieve rectal chlamydia symptoms until test results come back? I went to my gyno yesterday and since I am with a new partner they suggested I get a chlamydia and gonorrhea test. The only thing my doctor was concerned about was that one morning aft

How to relieve rectal chlamydia symptoms until test results come back? I went to my gyno yesterday and since I am with a new partner they suggested I get a chlamydia and gonorrhea test. The only thing my doctor was concerned about was that one morning aft

Until: Until you see the doctor you can try some over the counter hemorrhoid medication. There are many products in your local pharmacy dedicated to hemorrhoid treatment. These include creams that you apply to the rectum, medicated pads that can be placed over the anus, and rectal suppositories that can be inserted into the rectum. I recommend one of the first two choices until you can see the doctor. Also increase your fiber and water intake.
Take care. ...Read more

Due date soon and chlamydia I had chlamydia and I took my azithromycin two weeks ago. My first due date is on wednesday the 8th, and my resutls for a retesting pep smear won't come back until monday the 6th. What can the doctors do if II go into labor on

If: If you had chlamydia and were treated then you are odds of it still being present are fairly low, unless you were reinfected. If you go into labor prior to the results being available, your doctor may opt to give you a one time dose of Azithromycin to be safe. I highly doubt that a c-section will be done for this reason alone. I am sure your doctor has a safe protocol for this type of situation.
Best of luck on your upcoming delivery! ...Read more

I have the mirena (levonorgestrel) and chlamydia keeps on coming back as an infection. Could mirena (levonorgestrel) be causing? Or retaining some chlamydia? Or is it just a myth?

Had sex with 2 people, found out I had chlamydia, got treated. Went back to one of the people again, could he 100% pass it back to me?

Yes if not treated: If that partner received a recommended treatment, he probably was cured and cannot pass it back to you. If he was not treated, then absolulte yes: you WILL be reinfected. And second chlamydial infections are especially dangerous, with a much higher risk of pelvic inflammatory disease (PID, tube infection) which can make women sterile. Don't take the chance! ...Read more
