I was treated for chlamydia 2 years ago and was checked after 3 months and it was gone. Is it possible it has come back on its own?

Chlamydia: No, it does not come back on its own. We know that your initial infection was successfully treated by getting a negative 3 months after taking your medicine. If you have ben tested and are positive again, then this is a new infection that you got from a partner. BOTH of your will need to be treated. ...Read more

My boyfriend went to get tested for STD and he came positive for chlamydia. If he got treated can it come back?

My boyfriend went to get tested for STD and he came positive for chlamydia. If he got treated can it come back?

Recurrent chlamydia: Chlamydia can come back after successful treatment because the body does not build up immunity. Chlamydia treatment (antibiotics) are usually quite successful so recurrence suggests re-infection. Same thing is true for gonorrhea and syphilis which can be successfully treated and reacquired. Herpes and HIV are present for life after initial infection. ...Read more

Is it possible for chlamydia to come back on its own even though I was cleared of it 2 years ago when I was pregnant with my son?

Is it possible for chlamydia to come back on its own even though I was cleared of it 2 years ago when I was pregnant with my son?

Not really: If you were treated with the normal protocol of meds 2 years ago the infection would clear. Some actually do a test to confirm this weeks or months after treatment. Although it may be upsetting I would consider any new infection from a new exposure, not a hibernating germ that was not cleared the 1st time. Either way, your contact needs to be treated when you are. ...Read more

I was told to come back in for repeat test for chlamydia do that mean I have chlamydia, before the first test I use Monistat 7 is that y?

See answer : What you want to know and ask is whether a chlamydia test has already been done and if so, what were the results? If test was done and positive, you should have been placed on an antibiotic and will sometimes ask you to do another test to make sure it is gone. They may be asking you to come in just to screen for presence of chlamydia/gc. Monistat is used for rx of a yeast infection, not chlamydia. ...Read more

I was on doxycycline for chlamydia got retested and was clean. However I didn't take the last 2 pills and have symptoms again. Did it come back?

Probably not: Missing just one day of doxycycline isn't likely to make any difference. Chlamydia causes the same sorts of symptoms in women as many genital infections, like yeast, bacterial vaginosis, and many more. Best to recheck with your doctor, and to be completely safe, have a follow-up chlamydia test (at least 3 weeks after finishing treatment, or it might still be positive from the original infection). ...Read more

Was diagnosed with chlamydia 5 weeks ago and took azithromycin. I got retested today + am wondering how likely it is that the test will come back pos?

It depends: Was your partner treated as well? Are you using condoms for all sexual intercourse? If you took the medication properly, it will probably clear up the infection, but if you get reexposed by continue contact with another person who has chlamydia, you will get it again. ...Read more
