Flush thruough fiber: Please flush through with lots of fluids, which can be critical to prevent constipation, and a good fiber laxative will help promote motility of the colon to help expel the seeds.....Perhaps MiraLAX (polyethylene glycol) (available over the counter) would help clear the colon. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Chia: I agree with dr. Ali -- chia seeds have been eaten safely for years, and even the ancient aztecs enjoyed them. Clinical studies show they may reduce blood pressure, hb a1c, fibrinogen, and high-sensitivity c-reactive protein -- making them potentially heart-protective. http://tinyurl.com/lts5d79 i can find no mention of palpitations. Can drinking chia seeds such as the drink made from "mama chia" cause a positive opiate result in a drug urine test? I read online that it can?

I see no other evidence or reason why chia seeds should cause a false positive test. ...Read more

Possible allergy: I've never heard of either flax or chia seeds causing heart palpitations. This could be a coincidence (just because you eat something and then get a symptom does not mean that was the cause of the symptom). Try these again (separately). If every time you eat them you get palpitations then avoid. ...Read more

Yes: It is a seed and can definitely cause some allergic reactions. It just depends on what the reactions are.
