My 7 year old daughter was diagnosed with flu. We treated her with tamiflu (oseltamivir) for 5 days and expectorant. After 7 days she'still w/chest congestion...?

Tamiflu (oseltamivir) not a cure: Tamiflu (oseltamivir) suppresses the flu virus but doesn't kill it. The respiratory irritation triggered by the virus will produce changes in mucous production & flow that may result in residual cough that can last a few weeks. If she was getting better but seems to have become sicker now a re-visit is in order. If it's just a lingering cough, I would just watch it. ...Read more

30yr old female running a 103 fever chest congestion and body aches = took 1 extra strength tylenot about 1/2 hr ago =- what should I do

Do: Do not know if this is from a viral infection. I cannot diagnose the cause. Ensure that you are getting lots of fluids (not soda, coffee or tea) like water. Get rest. Your temperature is fairly high. If your temp increases to 104 - then it is really important that you get seen. Even if it does not increase, if you have any chest tightness, chest pain, difficulty breathing, wheezing, you start bringing up colored sputum, the fever lasts more than a few days you need to get your lungs checked out. If you are not allergic to nsaid's consider use of Motrin or Aspirin to help bring down your fever. The fever is likely causing the generalized aches. A tepid bath can also help to bring down your temperature.
Your temp is high enough, that you might have a loved one help you out, until you are doing better. If you take any turns for the worse - you need to get evaluated. Hope you feel better soon. ...Read more

10month old son have fever. Itching scalp. Little chest congestion. Why and how cure.

A viral illness: If your son looks sick and lethargic, he needs to be seen by a doctor right away. If he has just fever (how high?) and chest congestion (cough? Runny nose?), and otherwise he is doing ok, it is most likely a virus. The itchy scalp may be due to sweating because of fever, and you may see little red bumps like heat rash. Most of the time, a viral illness runs its course and goes away on its own. ...Read more

Continue to monitor: Symptoms less than a week without other problems. The lungs make mucous to wrap around the irritant or infection to help it come out with cough. Drink lots of water-vaporizer at night. If not improved by a week or worsening symptoms especially late onset fever see an MD.
