New Med?: You may be treating only part of your problem, depression. It is common to have this kind of reaction when you have a mood disorder which includes, but is not limited to, depression. Treating the depression alone may unmask the agitation side of the condition. Consult with your provider and see what they think about this. If you've been on Celexa (citalopram) for a while taper slowly. Ask doc. ...Read more

Not Celexa (citalopram).: Have you had a sleep study? It might help clarify what causes your sleep problem. Try sleep hygiene as well. Do not do any work or read in bed, use it only for sleep, do not watch tv in bed, or watch stimulating movies before you go to bed. Try listening to music or a relaxation tape. There is a yoga technique with breathing they describe as "darth vader" type of breathing. ...Read more
Hard stopping Zoloft (sertraline) and celexa...how long should the side effects last from this choice?
Taper: stopping any of the psychoactive meds suddenly is an invitation to reexperiencing all sorts of symptoms. Taper slowly (preferably under supervision of Dr) over several weeks (depending on dose). ...Read more
27 y/old m. I am always hot, I mean always. Constant sweating and I wake up at least 2 a week from profusely sweating. I am taking celexa (citalopram)?
Yup: Sweating is a common side effect of taking celexa (citalopram). The reaction being described seems more severe than usual but it can happen. Not having had this symptom before taking Celexa (citalopram) would make it even more likely that it was due to the celexa (citalopram). If it goes away after stopping Celexa (citalopram) that would also confirm that it is the side effect. Discussion about a replacement medication with your doctor is in order. ...Read more
What's the best depression medicine on the market my dr prescribed me celexa (citalopram) it makes me sleep i don't wanna wake up i've had 3 deaths in one year?
Talk Therapy!: While you search for a better antidepressant, definitely get involved in supportive talk therapy. The losses you've faced and your grief will not be resolved by drugs alone - they may not even be necessary. You need to work through your feelings which may be fairly normal and healthy. But, un-dealt with, they can fester leading to worse symptoms. Be picky, this therapist is one you need to trust. ...Read more
Celexa causes hard to reach orgasm. Would lowering the dose help and can it become permanent? Im on 20 mg. It does help me though. Zoloft (sertraline) made me sick
Almost immedicately: The side effect is dose related and improves as soon as the blood levels drop which could be the next day. Of course over time if the depression returns your libido could plummet. Lexapro (escitalopram) may have less sexual dysfunction than Celexa. Young men who are anorgasmic on low doses of SSRI, I wonder about Bipolar disorder and would consider Lamictal as alternate rx ...Read more

Talk to someone: Depersonalization and derealization are often helped greatly by cognitive and psychodynamic therapies in conjunction with supportive medication. Celexa (citalopram): I haven't heard that! in 2011 the fda suggested a dose of no more than 40 mg a day in people younger than 60 and 20 mg a day in people over age 60 because there was some evidence it could contribute to heart problems.
