Just wondering if it could be carpal tunnel syndrome, although in neck and shoulder I'm thinking probably not, right?

Just wondering if it could be carpal tunnel syndrome, although in neck and shoulder I'm thinking probably not, right?

Where is pain: If you can try to re post your question as its not clear. I am assuming that you have neck and shoulder pain and are wondering if it could be carpal tunnel. It is possible for a pinched nerve to cause pain in the arm down to the hand but usually carpal tunnel does not cause neck pain. if you see a neurologist they can do a nerve study test to confirm diagnosis and start occupational therapy.

Can doing kendo cause carpal tunnel syndrome?

Can doing kendo cause carpal tunnel syndrome?

Hard to say: If by kendo, you mean the martial art with swordplay, then it would be hard to say. If it involves lots of blows to the wrist it could be possible. However, I would look for other causes first.

I type a lot. Can that cause carpal tunnel syndrome?

I type a lot. Can that cause carpal tunnel syndrome?

Yes: Any activity where the wrist is moving up and down or if it is held in a bent position for a long time can put added pressure on the median nerve and thereby cause symptoms of tingling, numbnes, and pain i.E carpal tunnel symptoms. But if you are typing alot you need to be aware of many things besides just wrist position or you risk other rsi related problems. Good luck.

Can video games actually cause carpal tunnel syndrome?

Can video games actually cause carpal tunnel syndrome?

Unlikely: There is no evidence that hand use causes carpal tunnel syndrome. It is caused by pressure on the median nerve at the wrist and we do not know what causes the swelling. It is most common in women of middle age who are overweight.

When there is hand tingling, how do you know if it is caused by carpal tunnel syndrome?

When there is hand tingling, how do you know if it is caused by carpal tunnel syndrome?

Location: Carpal tunnel syndrome will have tingling in the hand in the palm surface of the thumb, index, middle and 1/2 of the ring finger. It is usually not associated with pain above the elbow, but it can. Neck pain and weakness are usually signs of a pinched nerve in the neck and not carpal tunnel syndrome. A good pm&r doc or orthopedic surgeon can tell the difference easily with an examination.
