Can Buspar Elevate Your Mood
Is how a patient says they feel, or how someone feels internally, versus how someone's mood appears, which is called "affect." if you say your mood is "happy, " and you appear to be so, we would say that your affect is congruent. If, however, you actually look really angry, we would say your mood is "happy" and ...Read more
Will 10mg of amitriptyline increase serotonin and noreph. Levels to assist with stress and/or anxiety?
How can snri's such as Cymbalta and Effexor (venlafaxine) control anxiety if they work on norepinephrine..would not this increase anxiety?
Very right you are!: In my practice I never use these medications, also Wellburtrin and Pristiq, (desvenlafaxine) for anxiety treatment precisely for this reason . And it's not a hypothetical concern as time after time they worsen anxiety in my humble opinion. SSRI's are much more reliable save Paxil (too short acting leading to withdrawal effects). Take care. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Bipolar disorder: Bipolar disorder is often helped by lithium, which is a mood-stabilizing medication. Sometimes depression is severe enough despite this that an antidepressant like wellbutrin (bupropion) is added -- but not without the mood stabilizer. If prescribed by your psychiatrist and you are followed regularly, the combination may help your mood, wellbutrin (bupropion) is not an anti-anxiety medication, though. ...Read more
Maybe . . .: Yes Remeron can be added to Cymbalta (duloxetine) but you need to discuss this w/your prescribing physician, preferably the one prescribing both. More concerning is that your Medications list doesn't show Cymbalta (duloxetine) but rather Zoloft, Risperdal & Ativan. While side effects of Zoloft are comparable to Cymbalta (duloxetine), Risperdal & Ativan carry other potential complications. Bottom line, check w/your psychiatrist. ...Read more

Health Tap: I am sorry to balk at this repeated question. It is severely inappropriate to get mental health treatment advice from a stranger on the internet. The physician who knows you and cares for you. ...Read more

Probably: I am careful when i prescribe Prozac (fluoxetine) for my patients, as it can be very strong, too strong for some. If you take too much, it can cause more anxiety. This is why, i never start someone on more than 10 mgs per day and then, i wait a month before i consider increasing the dose. Prozac (fluoxetine) lasts a very long time in one's system, dosage changes should be very gradual, start low, go slow. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Most likely: If you were prescribed citalopram, i assume the doctor diagnosed major depression and/or an anxiety disorder. If so, the medicine is quite likely to improve your symptoms. However, not all low moods are major depression, and not all anxiety requires medical treatment, so if citalopram was not prescribed following a careful evaluation, the chance it will help is much less. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
