Do lymph nodes bruise b4 u can feel them?! I have 1 on my chest on the right side, under my collar bone close to my armpit. Could something be wrong?
Exam: Best to have an exam by your primary care provider. May not be a lymph node at all. It could be a cyst. Doesn't sound like an emergency to see the doctor, but within a few weeks or so should be OK. Hope this helps! ...Read more
It depends on size: Unless these nodes are large (more than 2cm) you do not need to worry. But many diseases affect lymph nodes. Some of the considerations include infections (tb, sarcoid, fungal infections), lymph gland cancers like lymphomas or cancer spread from the lungs or elsewhere in the body. But I would not worry unless they are large enough as the radiologists often over read them anytime they are >0.5cm. ...Read more
Needs follow up: It may or not be a reason for concern, but needs follow up by your doctor. Lymph nodes enlarge to help us fight off infection. A persistent lymph node larger than one cm probably needs a biopsy or at least close follow up. ...Read more
I have a well defined ovoid hyperechoic focus with a central hyperechoic hilum in the left lateral chest wall? Lymph node measuring 9mm in diameter c
Question? Diagnosis?: Not sure of your question, but I surmise you want a diagnosis (you want to know what this IS). Without symptoms & physical exam (pictures), it is impossible to know. Even knowing symptoms & appearance, sometimes the ultrasound is not definitive enough to give a diagnosis. See a surgeon for a biopsy; this may be a lipoma (benign fatty growth) or a lymphoma (benign or malignant, both types exist). ...Read more
Bothersome!: You didn't note whether it was there before the radiation. If not, a fna (fine needle aspiration) needs to be done to see what's goig on. Good luck! ...Read more
Lung tumor: Chest or mediastinal lymph nodes associated with a lesion in the lung most often represent metastasis from a lung primary. This can further be defined by mediastinoscopy and lymph node biopsy or if in the proper position, thoracoscopy removing the lung nodule. A PET/CAT before any procedure will tell whether the nodes are malignant as whether the lung lesion is malignant. ...Read more

Does a chest x Ray reveal enlarged lymph nodes in neck area such as under the thymus gland caused by lymphoma?
The thymus gland: Is not in the neck, it is in the chest (anterior mediastinum). If the lymph nodes get large enough, the chest xray will be abnormal. However, a chest xray is not a reliable way to rule out adenopathy, because the lymph nodes have to get quite bulky to show up. CT is a much more sensitive and specific test for mediastinal adenopathy. ...Read more

Both axillary lymph nodes were very sore yesterday and now they are just very bruised. I have a head cold. Would that cause the bruising?
No, that's unusual: This may be something more than a simple head cold. I'd suggest seeing your family doctor about this. Especially if you have had recent weight loss, fever, night sweats, sore throat, fatigue, decreased appetite, menstrual changes or other constitutional symptoms, even if they were subtle before. Easy bruising is also a concern, especially if it is new. Please see your doc ASAP. Feel better soon! ...Read more
Monitoring Centers: Lymphatic system absorbs/carries things too big to go into the arteries/veins like bacteria eaten by white cells and digested food. Lymph nodes "taste" the lymph for anything bad like bacteria/viruses/cancers, etc. When it detects a problem, it alerts the immune system and your body reacts. They enlarge in response to the inflammation they create when they react. They shrink when all is well. ...Read more
