I have been having a creamy pink discharge for approximately 2 weeks. I got implanon birth control 3 months ago. What is the likely cause (s)?

Implanon: One of the common side effects of Implanon is irregular periods. This includes prolonged spotting such as what you are experiencing. Unless you are having pain or vaginal itch or irritation (which might mean an infection) this is nothing to worry about.

Yes: It can cause irregular spotting initially but if the discharge is something you'd otherwise see your gynecologist about you should still go =)

What medicines, drugs, or remedies can cause implanon birth control to fail?

What medicines, drugs, or remedies can cause implanon birth control to fail?

Improper placement: Most common reason for failure is improper placement of the implant. There are theoretically many medications and substances that can interfere with the livers processing of the hormone in the implant. However, these are theoretical. Recommend you see your doctor to ensure the implant is placed properly. If pregnant with the implant, make sure you see your doctor.

How can I get off of my period for atleast two days while im on it. I'm on the birth control implanon, which causes my periods to be irregular. Help?

How can I get off of my period for atleast two days while im on it. I'm on the birth control implanon, which causes my periods to be irregular. Help?

Implanon: Your implant is effective at what it does, but is well-known for being associated with abnormal bleeding, which can be lighter than normal or, in your case, heavier and irregular. The implant is said to be good for 3 years - I don't know how long you have had it, but if you want more regular "periods, " you might want to discuss your options and alternatives with your gynecologist.

Is the implanon recommendable? Is it the right choice for birth control?

Is the implanon recommendable? Is it the right choice for birth control?

Contraception choice: The right choice for birth control is the one that works for you. There are many types of birth control including oral contraceptives, implantable forms like implanon, or injectable forms like depo-provera. Other forms include NuvaRing or iuds. Condoms are the only ones that prevent transmission of stds. Pick the best one for you, and talk to your family practice physician.

Once your implanon birth control expires can you get pregnant right away? Or does it take it awhile to get out of your system?

Once your implanon birth control expires can you get pregnant right away? Or does it take it awhile to get out of your system?

Removed: When it expires, it has to be removed. Once it is out, the hormones are out of your system in a few days, so ovulation should resume fairly quickly.

Yes.: First of all, you shouldn't relay on Implanon being effective for birth control if you have been on an antibiotic. Your cycles should settle down a month or so after finishing your antibiotic, if it doesn't, or if you develop fever, pelvic pain, or additional bleeding see your doctor.

I've been on birth control (Implanon) for 4 yrs, having changed the rod last year. I've had no menstrual bleeding for the past 2 yrs, until today. Why?

I've been on birth control (Implanon) for 4 yrs, having changed the rod last year. I've had no menstrual bleeding for the past 2 yrs, until today. Why?

Breakthrough bleed: It could be some residual endometrial tissue, but it could also be cervical infection, trauma from sex and a polyp of either the cervix or endometrium. Less likely would be pregnancy. Your method has about a 2-3%failure rate, so check a pregnancy test.
