Maybe: Your body mass index is 25, which is just at the lower range for "overweight". This may not be the case for you, as your weight may be related to a higher degree of muscle mass.

I have included a link below for further information on body mass index.

Normal periods: The normal period of bleeding is usually 3. - 5 days, with some people having shorter or longer periods of bleeding. If you are having regular cycles, a shorter period of bleeding is not concerning. See http://www. Womenshealth. Not sure: There is no way to know. You should be evaluated by exam, ultrasound and likely a biopsy of the uterus. Bleeding in menopause is cancer until proven otherwise, but most likely you are fine ...Read more

Take preg test: Irregular periods are one of the most common problems obgyns treat. If this is one time problem it usually resolves on its own. If this is a recurring problem you should be evaluated. Infections ; hormonal changes can cause spotting. If there is a concern for pregnancy then do a home pregnancy test. There are many options available to help regulate the menstrual cycle. I have had my period since I was 14. It's never been regular. I can go several months without a period, should I be concerned? I'm also overweight.

Yes: Women who have stretches without a menstrual cycle, who are overweight, are at risk for a condition called pcos. This condition can lead to a hyper estrogenic environment in your body. Having too much excess estrogen can lead to uterine cancer. I recommend you see a doctor and possibly get on birth control pills to help prevent uterine cancer. Also recommend exercise and weight loss. ...Read more

I'm a smoker, non-drinker, overweight but active and healthy. My periods are extremely painful, heavy and erratic. Would a hysterectomy be an option?

AT 19?: Probably not the best option at your age unless its a last resort. It sounds like you need to see a gynecologist to see what is going on. Maybe PCO, maybe endometriosis. Need more information to know what will work. Even lupron (leuprolide) would be better than hysterectomy at age 19. ...Read more

Hormonal imbalance: Menstrual irregularities are not uncommon and anovulatory cycle is a common cause. Since you missed two periods it would be prudent to see your doctor. If you do not wish to be pregnant, use contraception all the time. Consult this site for more information on this topic.

My husband and I are thinking about having another child. But I am overweight and my periods are very regular. I'm not sure if I'm ovulating or not.

My husband and I are thinking about having another child. But I am overweight and my periods are very regular. I'm not sure if I'm ovulating or not.

"Hit or miss": Ovulation in significantly overweight or obese patients is "hit or miss" as periods are often irregular as a result of hormonal suppression of ovulation. The good news is that you obviously have one child already and have proven that the system works. Step one is diet and exercise for weight reduction prior to pregnancy. Step two if that fails is to see a GYN MD who handles fertility issues. ...Read more

I had period on 24aug and now from Friday I am spotting till Sunday. Is it due to infection or overweight or something else?

DUB: It is called dysfunctional uterine bleeding related to abnormal changes in hormone levels. Questions need answering: Are you using contraceptives? Could you be pregnant? If no to both, the spotting is likely caused by some unexpected variations in hormones possibly caused by stress. It should normalize next cycle. If bleeding persists longer than 2 weeks or gets heavier, contact your doctor ...Read more

Breast development: Thelarche (breast development) occurs over a spectrum of ages but usually in later stage development by upper teens. That you recently got your period shows that you likely have normal hormones. There is natural genetic variation and it maybe that females in your family may have late breast development or smaller breasts. However, you should allow your body to continue mature on its own schedule. ...Read more

If you are overweight does Provera (medroxyprogesterone) work to start your period after having a child?

If you are overweight does Provera (medroxyprogesterone) work to start your period after having a child?

Often, yes: A big factor in when you get your period after delivery is whether you are breast feeding. While the typical time for menses to resume after delivery is about 6 weeks, breast feeding delays this. If return of menses is unexpectedly delayed, a pregnancy test (perhaps others) should be done. Then a Provera (medroxyprogesterone) challenge can be tried. Being even moderately overweight should not affect this. ...Read more

What is the likelihood of me being able to conceive when I have absent and inconsistent periods - I am 25 slightly overweight I suffer from anaemia?

What is the likelihood of me being able to conceive when I have absent and inconsistent periods - I am 25 slightly overweight I suffer from anaemia?

Depends: The likelihood of conception depends in part on the cause of the irregular periods and anemia. Regardless of the cause, correcting the anemia and loosing weight will help. PCOS can be reversed with weight loss at times. Thyroid disease can be corrected with medication if that is the problem. See your doctor to find out the cause since even if you conceive, the underlying problem can cause trouble. ...Read more

Haven't had a period for around six months now. Basically since I got off the pill. Which I took to regulate my period. I'm not overweight or stressed.?

Probably fine: Not getting a period for some time after stopping oral contraceptives is not rare. If you were my patient I would suggest a trial of acupuncture to help reset the hormonal axis and if it continued I would refer you for a formal gynecology consultation. ...Read more

If you never really exercise or go for a walk, and then start walking long periods can that cause right leg pain, I'm not overweight?

If you never really exercise or go for a walk, and then start walking long periods can that cause right leg pain, I'm not overweight?

You don't have to be: overweight to experience leg pain from over walking or overexerting yourself when you start exercising after not doing it before. Usually, it's best to warm up, and do some stretching (leg) exercises, so you don't strain yourself when you first start out. Also, hydrate so you don't get cramps from dehydration, or electrolye deficiency. I see that you take caffeine tablets. That could dehydrate you 2. ...Read more
