Can Being Overweight Stop Your Periods
I weigh 80kg and I am 179cm tall, I do a lot of sport but had to stop for a long period because of an injury, am I overweight?
Your body mass index is 25, which is just at the lower range for "overweight". This may not be the case for you, as your weight may be related to a higher degree of muscle mass.
I have included a link below for further information on body mass index.

I am experiencing very less bleeding during periods, my age is 19 and I am overweight can you tell me what should be the reasons and what should I do?
I have had my period since I was 14. It's never been regular. I can go several months without a period, should I be concerned? I'm also overweight.
Yes: Women who have stretches without a menstrual cycle, who are overweight, are at risk for a condition called pcos. This condition can lead to a hyper estrogenic environment in your body. Having too much excess estrogen can lead to uterine cancer. I recommend you see a doctor and possibly get on birth control pills to help prevent uterine cancer. Also recommend exercise and weight loss. ...Read more
I'm a smoker, non-drinker, overweight but active and healthy. My periods are extremely painful, heavy and erratic. Would a hysterectomy be an option?
AT 19?: Probably not the best option at your age unless its a last resort. It sounds like you need to see a gynecologist to see what is going on. Maybe PCO, maybe endometriosis. Need more information to know what will work. Even lupron (leuprolide) would be better than hysterectomy at age 19. ...Read more
I last had a period in October 2014 then I got one in mid January, and I haven't had one since? I'm healthy & not overweight, Is this bad? What is it?
Menstrual irregularities are not uncommon and anovulatory cycle is a common cause. Since you missed two periods it would be prudent to see your doctor. If you do not wish to be pregnant, use contraception all the time. Consult this site for more information on this topic.

My husband and I are thinking about having another child. But I am overweight and my periods are very regular. I'm not sure if I'm ovulating or not.
"Hit or miss": Ovulation in significantly overweight or obese patients is "hit or miss" as periods are often irregular as a result of hormonal suppression of ovulation. The good news is that you obviously have one child already and have proven that the system works. Step one is diet and exercise for weight reduction prior to pregnancy. Step two if that fails is to see a GYN MD who handles fertility issues. ...Read more

I had period on 24aug and now from Friday I am spotting till Sunday. Is it due to infection or overweight or something else?
DUB: It is called dysfunctional uterine bleeding related to abnormal changes in hormone levels. Questions need answering: Are you using contraceptives? Could you be pregnant? If no to both, the spotting is likely caused by some unexpected variations in hormones possibly caused by stress. It should normalize next cycle. If bleeding persists longer than 2 weeks or gets heavier, contact your doctor ...Read more

Breast development: Thelarche (breast development) occurs over a spectrum of ages but usually in later stage development by upper teens. There is natural genetic variation and it maybe that females in your family may have late breast development or smaller breasts. If you are overweight does Provera (medroxyprogesterone) work to start your period after having a child?
Often, yes: A big factor in when you get your period after delivery is whether you are breast feeding. While the typical time for menses to resume after delivery is about 6 weeks, breast feeding delays this. If return of menses is unexpectedly delayed, a pregnancy test (perhaps others) should be done. Then a Provera (medroxyprogesterone) challenge can be tried. Being even moderately overweight should not affect this. ...Read more

If you never really exercise or go for a walk, and then start walking long periods can that cause right leg pain, I'm not overweight?
You don't have to be: overweight to experience leg pain from over walking or overexerting yourself when you start exercising after not doing it before. Usually, it's best to warm up, and do some stretching (leg) exercises, so you don't strain yourself when you first start out. Also, hydrate so you don't get cramps from dehydration, or electrolye deficiency. I see that you take caffeine tablets. That could dehydrate you 2. ...Read more
