Can bactroban (mupirocin) be used on diaper rash?

Can bactroban (mupirocin) be used on diaper rash?

Agree w Dr. Ferguson: For diaper rash keep baby's skin clean & dry. Change diaper as soon as it's soiled or wet. For healing allow baby to go without diaper for periods of time so affected area can air out. Avoid tight diapers or airtight covers over diaper. Meds your Dr. Might recommend include antifungal cream (for fungus), a steroid cream (for significant inflammation) or an antibiotic (for bacterial infection.)

Can mupirocin ointment USP 2 be used for diaper rash?

Can mupirocin ointment USP 2 be used for diaper rash?

Yes: There are some diaper rashes that likely need mupirocin, usually those that look like pustules or sores. Most of the flat red ones, though, will get better with regular zinc-oxide based diaper ointments. Your doctor can often tell by looking which would be better.

Can I use Fucidin cream 2% on diaper rash if it has open soars?

Can I use Fucidin cream 2% on diaper rash if it has open soars?

Not for fungus: Most diaper rashes are fungal in origin and fucidin cream is an antibiotic so it would not necessarily help the rash unless there was a bacterial component to it, irregardless of any open sores. If the open sores are infected, this cream can help and may also help prevent them from getting infected. Get the rash diagnosed to assure the best treatment if it persists. Good luck to you.

How can you tell if your baby has an allergic reaction to diaper rash cream?

How can you tell if your baby has an allergic reaction to diaper rash cream?

Patch test: You can check just about any product for skin sensitivity/reaction/allergy by doing a patch test. If you place a dab of the material on the fabric part of a bandaid & place it in a location where it won't be disturbed. (back of a baby or underarm of older kid) leave it on overnight, if no reaction within that time frame the product is likely safe to use over long periods.

Is there anything stronger or better than 45% zinc cream for a baby's butt that is red and very sensitive and often gets diaper rash?

Is there anything stronger or better than 45% zinc cream for a baby's butt that is red and very sensitive and often gets diaper rash?

Maybe: If your baby's diaper rash is not responding to zinc cream, it may need a prescription from your doctor. There are several different things that can cause diaper rashes in infants. I would recommend taking the baby to see your doctor to determine if a different type of treatment is needed based on the way the rash looks and that regular diaper cream isn't helping.

18m old, severe diaper rash anytime eats fruit. Allergic? Yes we change diaper frequently, use cream & pedialite. She loves fruit but d.R is so bad.

May be intolerant: Some kids have a deficiency of the enzyme needed to digest fruit sugar. If they eat it, it can pass through without being absorbed and lead to acidic stools that are loose and scalding in nature. These leave a diaper rash that looks like a 1st degree burn. The approach to this issue is to avoid any fruit in quantity. When she is older she may tolerate the fruit better, but while in diapers, avoid.

My gbaby, 9 mn/old 4th time to get a RX yeast inf cream bcause his diaper rash was so BAD! How does this happen? I've not seen this before&I'm WORRIED!

Very common: The diaper area is a warm, moist area, which is very prone to yeast. In order to combat this, of course use the prescribed medicine, but also change diapers frequently, use petroleum jelly or some other oil based ointment (I preferred Boudreaux's Butt Paste for my children) as a barrier, and bathe him or her every night. If they develop high fever or other concerning symptoms, call your doctor.

My 2 mont old baby has a bad diaper rash that is trying tobleed. Tried multiple rash creams but nothing works? What can I do to help with healing/pain?

My 2 mont old baby has a bad diaper rash that is trying tobleed. Tried multiple rash creams but nothing works? What can I do to help with healing/pain?

Keep area open& dry: I would make sure the creams used are suitable for diaper rash, as the cream itself may be an irritant. Also, if the rash is fungal/candidal, then you would need an antifungal cream from your doctor. Sometimes, changing the brand of diaper and leaving the area open to air helps.

Can you use diaper rash cream for a pad rash?

Yes: May of the diaper rash creams contain zinc oxide, which can be helpful for the chaffing/irritation rash caused by pads. If however, the rash from the pads is from not irritation but actual allergy to the fibers of the pad, the diaper cream probably won't do much.
