Can Bactroban Cream Be Used To Heal A Diaper Rash
Would it harm if neosporin powder is added over bactroban (mupirocin) ointment for skin rashes. How many times should the ointment be applied in a day.thanks..

For healing allow baby to go without diaper for periods of time so affected area can air out. Avoid tight diapers or airtight covers over diaper. Meds your Dr. might recommend include antifungal cream (for fungus), a steroid cream (for significant inflammation) or an antibiotic (for bacterial infection.) ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Not a good idea.: Silver is a toxic metal and has caused some problems in older children and adults when used to treat burns. For that reason silver sulfadiazine is no longer a favored agent. Babies have thinner skin that absorbs chemicals more readily, especially if ti's irritated or raw. So stick with the usual diaper rash products. Check with your pediatrician if the rash is severe or not clearing up. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Short term use: If you have minor skin irritation it is ok to use topical antimicrobials. However I would not recommend using it indefinitely as it may cause antibiotic resistance.
