Whole fresh fruits--berries, apples, peaches pears, oranges have lots of fiber which causes slow absorption of the sugars and are great. ...Read more

Isit healthier to feed kids oatmeal everyday with guar gum or evaporated cane juice? Does all ecjuice contain sucralose or has to be listed ingredient
Oatmeal: Why put anything in the oatmeal? It is a great food by itself. Complex carbs, fiber, some protein. The guar just adds extra fiber, and the juice is a sweetener. If you need a sweetener for taste, that is your choice, and it should not matter whether it is fruit juice, sugar, honey, etc. I would avoid artificial sweeteners in kids. The calories from a little honey is minimal. ...Read more

Absolutely, however: mechanism of weight gain/?ed blood sugar clearly not the artificial sweeteners per-se. Far more likely the issue is supporting/promoting behaviors of seeking sweet tastes & eating more carbs while thinking this would be OK, compensated for by the artificial sweetener. Tiny imbalances, over time, can produce significant changes in body fat. ...Read more
How i will check sugar free (sugar alcohol) syrup have cariostatic potential (anti- carious properties) ? how its better than sugar syrup in pedia.
Depends on how much: You DO eat refined sugars as ice cream and chocolate generally contains refined sugar. I advise limiting chocolate to dark chocolate with at least 70% cocoa solids and limit to about 1 ounce a day. Ice cream should also be OK if you just have small amounts a few times a week. If you eat lots of vegetables, are physically active and maintain a normal weight you will probably not develop diabetes. ...Read more

Are there some fruits that have a high enough fiber content, so that the fruit sugar carbs don't get quickly digested (trying to avoid a sugar high)?
Glycemic index: Berries, cherries, apples and pears are all "low glycemic index" forms of fruit. They are also nutrient dense and must still be balanced out with heart healthy protein foods such as nuts. Combining a starch with a higher protein food can slow the uptake of simple sugars and reduce the glycemic load. If you are a diabetic be very careful with portion size. Even low glycemic foods can inc glucose. ...Read more
