No: The confusion is people hear about an std that sounds similar--chlamydia trachomatis-- being treated w/ azithromycin. This infection is not the same as trichomonas vaginalis. Can azithromycin treat cystitis? It was given to me by a pharmacist. I took 2 tablets today. Should I continue?
UTI: Would you go and see a concert pianist to fix your car? Pharmacists should not be prescribing medication. They are practicing medicine without a license. Azithromycin might work, but only if the organism causing the cystitis (if that's what you have) is sensitive. Hope you get better, but next time see a doctor. ...Read more

Azithromycin in europe (im there only currently)-is sumamed. Is it same pill, safe for treat of pity. Rosea too? To me is said to take 500mg 1x1 for 3 days
Safe, not effective: Sumamed=zithromax/azithromycin. Zithromax is a relatively safe medication to take, even in pregnancy, and 500mg daily x3 is the 3-day-pack dosage. It is relatively safe medicine to use, but not effective for pityriasis rosea--the true cause is not known but believed to be viral. Thus antibiotic such as zithromax has no role in the treatment. Consult doc if you have trouble. Good luck. ...Read more

Easy to manage: A mirror, a water pick, a penlight, and steady hands are all you need to manage tonsil stones. If you try to use a half-unbent paper clip instead, don't hurt yourself. An ENT physician can laser the tonsils and help prevent stones. They are actually masses of keratin and can be uncomfortable and smelly, but they pose zero danger. An antibiotic isn't indicated. ...Read more

Is it possible 500 mg of azithromycin will treat chlamydia? What is the likelihood that this is enough? I do not have access to 1g. I have no symtoms
Not enough: This dose is not reliable against chlamydia. You need to find another 500 mg; in fact, if you already treated yourself, you need another two doses -- total 1 g taken all at once. If you could get 500 mg, surely you can get the rest. Contact your local health department for probable free treatment. Also, you need to be tested; and other sex partners (all within the past 2 months) also need Rx. ...Read more
