Echo Ejection >55% transmitral pseudonorm. No wall abnorm. No stenosis. Mild mitral annular calc. Nohigh bp. High ASO titre. Poss hyperthyroid. Help!

Mitral valve: The test results here do not necessarily lead to any particular conclusion; additional information would be needed to give you advice. Think about a consultation with a cardiologist here on HealthTap or in the office. The ASO is a test indicating a prior Strep infection. While late complications from Strep infections can affect the heart (rheumatic disease), it does not sound like you have that. ...Read more

Can high blood pressure by cured through ayurveda?

Uncertain: Because hypertension is such a complex problem, there is no doubt that there are published anecdotes of those "cured" by many alternative medicine approaches. Each individual has to find what form of medicine they believe in, and if alternative medicine seem right for you, then try it. It is critial though to be monitored and make sure your BP is being controlled if you try this. ...Read more

Do you continue having high aso levels from having scarlet fever or will they go back down to normal?

ASO levels...: ...Rise with any exposure to group a strep, even if no symptoms appear, so for some people they never go back to "normal" - but, otoh, except for people with rheumatic fever, they are of no concern at all - in fact, looking for evidence of rheumatic fever is pretty much the only reason to ever measure aso levels. ...Read more

What does transmitral doppler flow suggestive of pseudonormalization mean on an Echo. Have mild mitral annular calc. All else norm. Have high ASO titr?

Pseudonormization: On echo is compatible with increased left ventricular stiffness (same as decreased compliance.) Usually caused by thickening of the left ventricle. The causes include any condition that cause the left ventricle the work harder, such as hypertension and aortic valve narrowing (stenosis). Any condition that puts an abnormal load on the ventricle can cause this. Discuss with ur cardiologist. Good luck ...Read more

Feel very ill for months, sweats, wt loss, off & on low fever, malaise. High ASO >400. CBC norm. Have MVP. Could I have endocarditis?

Endocarditis: The symptoms you describe, fever weight loss and malaise, are seen with subacute bacterial endocarditis (SBE), an infection of a heart valve. They are also seen with a variety of other conditions, though, so you need to see a physician right away to sort this out. Blood cultures are usually but not always positive with SBE. ...Read more

I suffer voicehoarseness for over 1year. Had met physicians, diagnosed pharyngitis with high aso, took antibiotics, laryngoscoped, took pentocid, no change.

Is it possible to detect the strain of a strep infection from blood tests? I can't stand the throat culture. Having high aso titers for years

Is it possible to detect the strain of a strep infection from blood tests? I can't stand the throat culture. Having high aso titers for years

Man up!: You smoke cigarettes but can't stand to have your throat swabbed? Here's what's at issue. You're not going to know if you have a strep throat unless you get a culture or at least a rapid strep screen. If strep throat is present and not treated, your heart can end up ruined. If it's not present and is overtreated with antibiotics, you're risking weeks of diarrhea, or worse. Ask 4 a topical numb rx. ...Read more

My 9 yo daughter has swollen finger joints in one hand and has elevated aso levels, could this be from scarlet fever 4 yrs ago?

My 9 yo daughter has swollen finger joints in one hand and has elevated aso levels, could this be from scarlet fever 4 yrs ago?

Maybe: Elevated aso levels indicate a past strep infection....Just not exactly when. It is important to have her evaluated to see if it is something acute or if it could be related to strep. In the cases I have seen of rheumatic problems after strep the patients did not remember having a strep infection. If her scarlet fever was treated then this may not be related. ...Read more
