Could you tell me if the opposite of the appendix or on the left side hurts is it a sign of appendicitis?

Probably not: The appendix is normally located in the right lower quadrant of the abdomen, so that is where the pain & tenderness localize in appendicitis. Only very rarely is the appendix located on the left side, such as in situs inversus or intestinal malrotation; appendicitis is such a case would cause left-sided pain/tenderness. Colon or left tubo-ovarian problems might be considered with left-sided pain. ...Read more

Can appendicitis form if the ascending colon is on the left side?

I have the same symptoms as appendicitis. But the severe pain is on my left side. Does this mean I have appendicitis?

Get medical Ckup: Any abdominal pain if it persists beyond a few hours is of serious concern especially if it is associated with nausea/vomiting or fever. If the pain is persistent and severe, you should head to the ER to find out the cause. Appendicitis is still a possibility despite the location of the pain but the pain has to be pretty severe to consider this as a likely diagnosis. ...Read more

Unlikely.: It is difficult to assess abdominal pain with the few details that we have in your short question. However, as a generalization, appendicitis usually occurs in the right lower quadrant or mid abdomen, not usually on the left. Having said that, there are other causes of abdominal pain which need medical attention that do occur on the left side. If it persists, see your doctor. Good luck. ...Read more
