Dr says fluid behind eardrum, didn't give antibiotics. Can't take decongestants cause of PVCs. Been feeling dizzy, from fluid? Do I need antibiotic?

Not really: As this is mostly viral or due to obstructed Eustachian tube (s), however it is purely judgemental, and one of the most controversial topics in medicine: whether to give antibiotics for fluid build up behind the eardrums. It won't cause dizziness though, that would be the inner ear not the middle. At any rate revisit your doctor or have a second opinion, meanwhile, saline nasal washes would help, ...Read more

I have on and off fever for 2 days, body pain, difficulty swallowing, headache and dizziness. What antibiotic can I take?

No antibiotics yet: Sounds like a viral syndrome with muscle aches, pains, headaches, lightheadedness, and difficulty swallowing. Fever is common with many viruses. Give the symptoms time to improve. Dizziness Day 3. Water behind eardrum, 5 days on antibiotic. My first chiro adjust done same day Low back and a sort of soft gun on neck. Dizzy from?

Middle Ear Problem: The dizziness is most likely from irritation of the middle are from the fluid. If you have no contraindications a decongestant like pseudophedrine could help, a very short course of a nasal decongestant (after about three days the can cause rebound & make things worse when stopped) or nasal steroids may help. Is it normal that I have had an ear infection for 7 days & been on antibiotics for 5 days but still have dizziness & some pain?

Ear infection?: Sometimes doctors may not accurately diagnose "ear infections." if you have only pain and no difficulty hearing an no discharge or drainage you may have a pain problem and not an infection problem. In the case of a pain problem it might not be your ear but your jaw joint. Too often doctors treat pain with antibiotics and the ear is actually ok. That is why patients think the antibiotics don't work. ...Read more

You need follow-up: For these symptoms that are severe, you need to talk to your doctor. It sounds like your therapy is barely adequate and a follow up appointment seems like a very good idea. I would call now and let the doctor know about this. It's possible you need different or stronger medications. With dizziness/passing out, I don't take any chances. Would go to an ER if you can't be seen today by the doc. ...Read more

If: If a chest x-ray has not been done then it is time. Depending on the results you may even need a ct (cat) scan of your chest. Also a blood test called a CBC should be done to look for clues as to the time of illness you are dealing with (bacterial or viral). A TB test should be done as well. As far as your question, "will the ms make it harder to get rid of this" I don't believe so, but the key is getting an accurate diagnosis and appropriate treatment.
Good luck. ...Read more
