Can Antibiotics Cure Bv
Antibiotics doesn't work for my issue with bv. Is there another option to get rid of it for good? Is there really a cure?
Several approaches: Bv can be caused by several things. Try this under the guidance of a physician. Be abstinent. Limit the number of sex partners after treatment. Do not douche. Use all of the medicine prescribed for treatment of bv, even if the signs and symptoms go away. It seems you have tried the metronidazole. Perhaps have your physician switch to Clindamycin and give that a try. Eat as healthy as possible. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Have been on 4 different antibiotics for specific bacterias, now test shows I have bv, any natural cures i can try? I don't want anymore antibiotics.
Boric Acid?: For bacterial vaginosis i would recommend the standard treatment of oral or vaginal flagyl. Intravaginal boric acid 600 mg at bed time provides symptomatic relief. The frequency can be gradually decreased to once or twice a week. You could try a probiotic preparation such as vsl #3 with 110 billion colonies of probiotic bacteria per capsule, but this therapy is unproven. ...Read more

Proper diagnosis: The key to treating recurrent vaginal discharge is proper testing so that you know exactly what you are treating. If test confirm you do have recurrent BV then there are several protocols for long term treatments with Metronidazole, Boric acid and others that can be used. ...Read more
Not both: Metronidazole will often cure BV (bacterial vaginosis). It is ineffective against chlamydia. For this you will need a different antibiotic, such as azithromycin, doxycycline, eryhromycin, or uncommonly Levofloxacin and ofloxacin. See your clinician for an appropriate prescription. ...Read more
How can I treat and cure bacterial vaginosis at home without antibiotics? I was diagnosed with BV and received antibiotics that i finished off, but i'm still experiencing severe pain and symptoms. I have no medical insurance and cannot afford to go back t
If : If you were diagnosed with BV and treated, but are still experiencing symptoms, then there is a good possibility that you have something else besides bv. Search you local yellow pages for low income or free clinics. There are usually free std clinics in every state. They can help you with this issue even if it's not an std. Unfortunately, there is not an at home cure i can suggest without knowing what we are dealing with, however i can tell you if you have any itching or white discharge an over the counter yeast infection cream may help. My final advice since you are in "severe" pain is to find a way to seek medical care. Best of luck to you. ...Read more

Does the antibiotic minocycline cure bv? Also am worried about the scary side effects that happen when used for a long period of time, taking for acne
No: Bv is a synergistic infection involving gardnerella and a number of other bacteria. It is treated with Metronidazole oral or intravaginal treatment. Tinidazole and Clindamycin are alternatives. Oral and intravaginal probiotics containing lactobacilli can help. Recurrent disease is related to colonization of your sex partner, inconsistant condom use. Minocycline is not a rx for bv. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Took flagyl and cipro (ciprofloxacin) for UTI & BV 500 mg for 2 weeks I thought the antibiotics would also cure the strong excessive odor in my armpits from hidradeni?
Not an infection: Hidradenitis suppurativa is not primarily an infection, but an immune disorder; the exact causes aren't known. Infection often occurs on top of hidradenitis, in which case ciprofloxacin and metronidazole (Flagyl®) might help. But antibiotic treatment won't necessarily prevent or cure odor. You need to be in the care of a dermatologist, if not already. Good luck! ...Read more

Herpes?: This is too complex for a clear on this sort of forum. Keep working with your doctors. If not under the care of a genitourinary medicine (GUM) or infectious diseases specialist, that might be worthwhile. Also, make sure you were tested for herpes, which could cause such symptoms.
