Can An Ovarian Torsion Correct Itself
Possible but..: Possibly, an ovarian may twist with its recurrent spontaneous untwisting, similar to that scenario in testes. But, testicular torsion with recurrent spontaneous detorsion is somewhat easier to assess than the ovarian counterpart. However, professional alertness + timely analysis the detailed Hx of onset, degree, duration, and interval of pain remain the key to suspecting its Dx.
Twisted ovary: Torsion means twisting. Very rarely, an ovary can twist about on its base. It causes very severe pain, and you would definitely seek medical help for this. The same sort of thing happens in males involving the testicle, and it is not uncommon. But in females, it is a pretty rare condition.See 1 more doctor answer
May be...: A twisted ovary may untwist itself just like that happening to testicles. Its diagnosis is hard, but largely based on doc's alert and professional keenness to reveal its unique clinical pictures: highly variable onset, intensity, duration, and interval, of recurrent pain over time, usually years; of course, one has to rule out common intrapelvic disorders. So, see and ask doc timely. Good luck...
Here are some. ..: The intensity and pattern of symptoms related with ovarian torsion may widely vary depending on the timing and degree of torsion, ranging from mild intermittent pain with nausea to excruciating pain with vomiting... Professional alertness & keenness is the key to timely spot and treat ovarian torsion. More? Seek timely professional attention and counseling.See 2 more doctor answers
Pain: Severe pain sudden onset and intense seek medical atttention emergentlyquick surgical intervention is the only way to save the ovary in these circumstances. Keep in mind any sudden severe abdominal or pelc pain should be evaluated immediately. Rupture of intestine or stomach or a tubal pregnancy can be life threatening.
Here are some. ..: Ovarian torsion leading to the loss of the affected ovary will negatively impact the odd to conceive, which is similar to that after testicular torsion in men, but the studies on ovarian torsion have been not as thorough as that for testes due to their difference in accessibility with ovaries being inside and testes being outside.See 1 more doctor answer
Yes: Torsion of any organ, ovary, testis or intestine usually causes pain.
Pain severity?: Many patients with twisted ovaries note that the pain makes it difficult to "laugh, talk, walk, breathe, or be touched in the abdomen". Ruptured cyst patients note a "moment of severe pain" which often passes after a few hours. A twised ovary requires immediate surgery 100% of the time and a ruptured cyst often does not. Ovarian torsion and twisted ovary are the same.
Mild discomfort: Usually procedure is done laparoscopically. The torsed overy may have to be removed due its demised. The ovary usually dies when torsed due to lack of blood supply. fertility should be unaffected if the opposite ovary is normal.
Not the same: Ovarian torsion caused by twisting on blood vessels & usually fallopian tube cutting off blood supply to ovary. Partial cause could be ovarian cyst. Can be diagnosed by ultrasound & corrected laparoscopically. Ovarian rupture is ruptured corpus luteum cyst, also very painful. Possible internal hemorrhage. Temporize if minor not if severe. Both t&r conditons present with abdominal pain & vomiting.
No, It is rare: This is a very rare condition. I've only seen it once in 20 years.See 1 more doctor answer

I had an ovarian torsion that enlarged the ovary to just over 11cm x 9cm and had to have that ovary removed. What hormonal side effects might I see?
None: As long as you have the other ovary functioning appropriately things should go fine until you are older and go thru menopause.
Had an ovarian torsion because of a large cyst. Ovary removed. What are the chances of this happening again. I have some pains in and around incision.
Not possible. ..: If the whole ovary is removed, there should be no recurrence on the same side, but not preclude a similar occurrence on the opposite. Post-surgical pain at incision may linger for a highly variable duration, and occasionally, such pain may stay... For detail, ask surgeon timely.
Pain in lower right quadrant, had ovarian torsion last year. Is this a fantom (my brain is making it up) pain or is this real? Please help!
Unlikely: It is unlikely to b fantom pain. Need to see ur doctor to figure it out. If pain is severe, need to go to er.
corpus leteum cyst that is 2.2 and was on a stalk. About a year ago I had an ovarian torsion on the right side and took ovary. Doc said wait. I'm worry?
No pain?: If no pain and your physician wants to wait, please wait. If gets worst, please f-up with the same physician
Yes: Ruptured ovarian cyst happen often it is associated with the cycle some time is more painful than other it depend on the content of the cyst if it is clear or bloody, this how pain will vary torsion of the ovary when the ovary turn and twisted the bloos supply now the pain is unbareable very bad pain and it required emergency surgery either to save the ovary or to eliminate the pain.
