Can an e.Coli infection make me infertile?

Can an e.Coli infection make me infertile?

Not likely: If e coli causes inflammation of the testes or the passages leading from the testes to the urethra, there is the theoretical possibility of infertility. Most e coli infections involve the urinary tract and do not cause infertility. ...Read more

I was given Flagyl 250 to cure my ecoli infection. Is that the right strength? I remember being given Flagyl 500?

I was given Flagyl 250 to cure my ecoli infection. Is that the right strength? I remember being given Flagyl 500?

Wrong antibiotic: If you've been given Flagyl for an E. coli infection- that doesn't make proper sense, since it will not work against E. coli. I would call the doctor to ask 'what' they are actually treating and why. There are different doses of Flagyl (metronidazole) and 500 mg is a standard dose. Sometimes a doctor will dose adjust a medication depending on the patient and the infection. You need to get answers. ...Read more

What is the best way to prevent vaginal ecoli infections during sex would showering immediately before sex help. I have crones?

Concern is...: Usually E.Coli can cause UTI in women after having sex. There are a few ways that have been proposed to prevent this although not always proven effective: Urinate before and after sex, drink plenty of fluids before sex, on those females that have had multiple UTIs antibiotic preventive regimen either every certain amount of days or after having sex. If this is the case needs to discuss with doctor ...Read more

Just had a follow up urinalysis after ecoli infection because im still in pain. New test says I have "morganella morganii" 10^8 clinically insignifica?

More info needed: Morganella can cause kidney stones (struvite crystals). If the organism was found simultaneously with the original urine culture, it is possible that there may be a more complicated infection associated with a ureteral obstruction. Though this would present with fever and persistent unilateral pain. In that case, just using antibiotics will not resolve the infection. Further tests may be neede ...Read more

Explain the condition called an escherichia coli infection.?

Treatable: E. Coli normally live in our large bowel and perform a useful function there. When they contaminate our food or water, disease may result. There are many subtypes of e. Coli. They are a frequent cause of "traveler's diarrhea" with nausea, diarrhea, and vomiting, but respond rapidly to even a single dose of antibiotics. Other forms produce a more serious and potentially lethal infection. ...Read more

Can a ecoli infection in the bladder be spread through intercourse? Can my partner get it to?

Can a ecoli infection in the bladder be spread through intercourse? Can my partner get it to?

Unlikely to be a pbm: The bladder infection is in a separate compartment from the sexual activity. To acquire the infection the germ would have to enter the penile urethra and climb into the bladder. This is a common issue for females with the short urethra (tube) but the length of a male makes it less vulnerable. Also, emissions through the penis during sex and a good pee afterward would wash it all out. ...Read more

Prescribed smz tmp ds 800-160 for ecoli BV 2x day for 5 days. What can I do to prevent a yeast infection from occurring?

Preventing yeast: Replacing the "good bacteria" (lactobacilli that keep yeast under control) with yogurt or one of the probiotic drinks may help. Otc antifungal creams may also help. Otherwise, doc may rx Diflucan (fluconazole) to treat yeast overgrowth. I usually give 2 pills, one to be taken when yeast appears, second for 7-10 days later. ...Read more

I have been getting klebsiella urinary tract infections after having cdiff. I have had chronic ecoli utis for years. Why did it suddenly change?

Chronic UTI's: The main bacteria in any infection are there for a variety of reasons. In your case, you likely had multiple courses of antibiotics. That killed most of the e.Coli, but left behind resistant klebsiella. Now you're getting infections with that bug. If you get that one, a new one might again emerge. You may need further evaluation of your urinary tract to see if anything in the plumbing is cause. ...Read more

After oral surgery there was an infection in the bone of my mouth and then I became deathly ill with esbl ecoli. How did this happen?

Resistant Germs: These days, more germs are becoming resistant to our standard antibiotics. ESBL stands for 'extended spectrum beta-lactamase' which means that E. coli bacteria was a superbug and was not affected by the usual antibiotics that are used in surgery. Not sure 'how' u got that superbug-maybe if you work in a hospital, or had been back and forth to a hospital as a patient u could have been exposed then. ...Read more

I suffered frm prostate ecoli infection n UTI frm Aug 2015. Semen culture report is -ve so antibiotic stopped frm 7 jan 16. my scrotum remain tight y?

Sounds OK, but...: This doesn't sound like you have any serious ongoing problem. It isn't unusual for genital area discomfort ("tight" scrotum, etc) to continue a long time after this sort of complex infection. You're obviously under a doctor's care; ask him or her. What's going on, in the past 2 months I've had vaginal ecoli infection, and keep getting yeast infections as soon as it goes away. No STD or pregnant.?

Source: Recurrent vaginal infections with ecoli suggest a possible seeding from wiping back to front although usually causes ecoli uti, it may be a source.
