How to overcome skin darkening around specific body part?

How to overcome skin darkening around specific body part?

Depends on normality: Normal people are not the same color all over. That means everybody has lighter and darker parts. If a person is darkening normally, that is ok... but if due to sun exposure, sunscreen (and clothing and shade) does help. If the neck and armpits are darkening, one's primary care Dr. can check to see if it is normal. If nipples and genitals are darkening, that is usually fine, but the Dr. can check.

No you can't. : If you have a boil or furuncle, you first need to have it treated by a doctor. Do not apply any body lotion or moisturizer on it, there is no safe way to do it but a risk to spread an skin infection. Be safe!

Need evaluation: There are two possibilites you need to be evaluated for. One is infection witha "superbug" called mrsa. Mrsa can cause reccurrent and often serious skin infections. The other is an inherited condition called hidradenitis supprativa which is characterized by recurrent boils, abscesses and scarring on buttoicks, groin and at times breasts and underarms. See your dermatologist.

What is the difference between a cyst and an abscess? They're both sacs of pus inside the body, or below the skin, correct?

What is the difference between a cyst and an abscess? They're both sacs of pus inside the body, or below the skin, correct?

No: An abscess is a collection of pus usually caused by a bacterial infection. A cyst is a sac that is lined by a membrane and contains fluid or semi-fluid matter not pus and is not caused by infection. A cyst can become infected and the liquid can change to pus thus becoming an infected/abscessed cyst.

Laser hair removal: It's unfortunate and infections are definitely a problem. See if you can convince your insurance to pay for laser hair removal. If you've had documented severe abscesses, they might be more apt to cover it. Otherwise, it's usually considered a cosmetic procedure. It often helps in chronic cases like yours.

Surgical drainage: Presuming that it is a skin abscess, it may be necessary to drain it surgically as it may not be able to rise through the tough, stratified layer of dry skin.

Hi I have a skin abscess for a year now. I have it in multiple places. Larger than 1/2 inch is it serious ?

Maybe serious: It sounds like you may be carrying a virulent strain of staph or strep bacteria. Or if the abscesses are limited to certain areas like the groin or armpits, you might have hidradenitis suppurativa, an autoimmune disorder. Either could be serious. Culture tests for staph/strep and perhaps consultation with a dermatologist or infectious diseases specialist may be advisable. See your doctor.

How does a hot pack help a skin abscess?

A number of ways: 1. It increases local blood circulation bringing Red Cells) oxygen (healing) and White cells (immunity) to the lesion 2. Once the abscess opens from the hot packs alone or from incision and drainage (surgery) it helps remopve necrotic (dead) tissue a promotes healing! Hope this helps!

Should I still go to work if I have a skin abscess? I am on antibiotics

Should I still go to work if I have a skin abscess? I am on antibiotics

Yes: You could keep the area covered with a bandage, and wash your hands frequently. Unless you work around very ill people in a healthcare situation, you are at low risk to other people at work or at home.
