Not cancer: If your pap smear shows LSIL, which stands for low-grade squamous intraepithelial lesion, most doctors will not do anything immediately. You will probably be asked to come back in six months for another pap smear to see if the lesions are still present. In many cases, the lesions disappear over time and there are no further problems. If you return for your second pap smear and the finding is still present, you will probably be advised to have a coloposcopy done. A coloposcopy is a procedure performed in a doctor's office and is typically the first step in diagnosing cervical cancer
I have an abnormal pap smear. Hpv was found at high risk. What does that mean? Do I have cervical cancer? What happens if I become pregnant?
Need for follow-up: You do not have cancer but have higher than normal risk for cancer. You should get PAP smears done yearly, more frequently if your doctor suggests. Pregnancy would be okay, but make sure that you are taking pre-natal vitamins and keep in touch with your doctor for care throughout pregnancy.

Please answer, if one had ovarian cancer, could it metastasis to pelvis and present on pap as cin 1?
Pap and ovarian CA: First just remember a Pap test is only good for finding cervical CA. It doesn't find ovarian or uterine CA. That's why ovarian CA is called the silent CA and uterine CA presents with bleeding. Your abnormal pap is not even at a level where it would be CA yet. Talk to your doctor and ask if the CA cells from the ovarian CA look like the pap. Sounds like u have a new problem. Hang in there!
Annual exam: A pap smear is typically done during the annual exam. A pap smear is the test done to detect and prevent cervical cancer. During the pelvic exam the ovaries are felt. This is one of the screening tools to detect ovarian abnormalities. In some cases a sonogram is done to better assess the ovaries.
32 yo- periods nml 7 days & heavy. Last 2 were light and 3-5 days. Preg neg- pelvic exam & pap 1 mo ago nml. CT of ab &pelvis nml 2 mos ago. Should I be worried? Could this be ovarian cancer or uterine cancer? What should I do?
See below: Being obsessed about cancer is not helpful. Take oral iron and vitamins to prevent anemia from heavy periods. For good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, low fat milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. Practice safe sex.
There are ASCUS.: There are such smear results that are ascus (atypical squamous cells of undetermined significance) which is to say that they do not look normal, but they can't be called cancer or precancer either. Infection and inflammation are common sources. The pap test is repeated in 12 months or 6-12 months for those younger and older than 20 respectively. A reflex hpv-dna test can be done in adults.

I have been having cramping in my cervix. I am a female. I have also had a slightly abnormal pap smear results. Is this cervical cancer?
Cramps and cervix: Cramping from a cervical condition often presents as menstrual cramps associated a heaviness and discomfort in the pelvic area. Additionally a cervical condition can produce abnormal discharge which may be excessive, watery and tinged with blood. One may also have a post coital bleeding. One needs to be examined, have pap/high risk hpv testing and colposcopy to rule out cancer of cervix.See 1 more doctor answer
