How long does alcohol withdrawal dizziness last?

How long does alcohol withdrawal dizziness last?

It varies: It really depends on your body weight, rate of metabolism, if you ate when you drunk, and on the amount and type of alcohol. It also depends on your genetic ability to metabolize and tolerate alcohol. Children of alcoholics will have a higher tolerance for alcohol. On average, the withdrawal lasts at least one day. You can see alcohol makes you sick. Have you considered stopping drinking?

Food for recovery from alcohol abuse and alcohol withdrawal and malnutrition? And other tips on how to recover? I'm aching a lot and dizzy

Food for recovery from alcohol abuse and alcohol withdrawal and malnutrition? And other tips on how to recover? I'm aching a lot and dizzy

Congratulations: On your recovery process. Alcohol/drug withdrawing needs to be supervised by your doctor for your safety. At some point he/she will encourage you to continue on your own and return if needed. Malnutrition is a risk factor. Lab testing for nutrient levels is best. Otherwise, include protein, good fats, and carbs in each meal. Don't listen to the low fat and no eggs hype. It is not good science

Is it ok to run if I have tachycardia caused by alcohol withdrawal syndrome?

Is it ok to run if I have tachycardia caused by alcohol withdrawal syndrome?

Probably not: As an alcoholic (?) you have more than likely developed a severe deficiency of vitamin b1.This will cause you to have an increased activity of the nervous control mechanisms of the heart and possibly the heart itself. Alcohol and b1 deficiency go together. Stop all forms of sugar and get plenty of rest. See your doctor for instructions on b1.Lyou will need other vitamins as well.

Are dt's ever fatal during alcohol withdrawal, and if yes, how do they cause death?

Are dt's ever fatal during alcohol withdrawal, and if yes, how do they cause death?

Yes: Delirium tremens are extremely dangerous and carries a 35% mortality, untreated (5-15% treated). The physiologic mechanism of death is a combination of neurologic and cardiac processes related to the unregulated hyper-metabolic state of dts. Neuro-cellular damage due to the chronic exposure to alcohol leads to cardiac arrest and death.

Does alcohol withdrawal generally cause hot flashes and/or fever without delerium tremens (dt's)?

Does alcohol withdrawal generally cause hot flashes and/or fever without delerium tremens (dt's)?

Certainly can....: Withdrawal from alcohol causes instability of many pathways, including those that control body temperature, even in the abscence of dt's. Other common complaints are diarrhea and agitation. Typically these will all resolve within a few days, however alcohol withdrawal is one of the few drug withdrawals that can be life-threatening. Heavy drinkers: seek the help of a doctor when quitting.
