Would a UTI cause 50mg of protein to be in my urine? And I also had 8.7 of protein in my blood? Haven't been eating much due to emotional stress!

No: Utis do not typically cause protein to be found in the urine. After you have finished treatment for the infection, have your rinse rechecked, and if the protein is still present, you should see a nephrologist. Good luck! ...Read more

If I have 30mg/dl of protein in my urine during a uti, is this normal or do I have kidney damage from this? Can I treat this without abx?

Probably not: First treat the infection if present and then check the protein. Normally it will be high during an infection because of the red and white blood cells in the urine. Probably no kidney damage. Significant protein in the urine is over 150mg/day. ...Read more

Urine dipstick shows leukocytes, protein and presence of blood. I have no other symptoms of a UTI. Is this something else?

Urinary evaluation: Well this is clearly an abnormal finding -so a professional evaluation is warranted. I would be looking for a full urinalysis -not just a dipstick. There are other diseases that could cause 'sediment' in the urine -so part of this could be explained by whatever medical issues you have now. I would call your primary doc and set up an apt-preferably this week. If you get urinary symptoms-Urgent Care ...Read more

How accurate are urine dip sticks? Did one at Dr office and showed protein in urine. Can it mean uti? Dr taking it to lab for culture.

Quite accurate: Trace protein in the urine is never worrisome by itself. +1 may be worth a workup. +2 is worth investigating. The usual cause is orthostatic proteinuria -- if you're well otherwise, see if your first-voided morning specimen is free of protein, and if it is, you know you're someone who gets proteinuria from standing up -- no big deal. Best wishes. ...Read more

I had a protein level of 8.3 in my blood. Also had ketones in my urine, uti, seizure at the time of blood work. What can be some causes?

Dehydration is one: Although it shouldn't cause seizure it causes high protein in blood and ketones. Especially when associated with much alcohol or severe dieting. Of course diabetes is another cause but you would've known it by now. Also, urine sepsis could cause this bec of urine and blood infections cause nausea and vomiting and dehydration. Other rare conditions include myeloma but I doubt. ...Read more

Diagnosed w/ uti. Urine showed wbc=35000, positive protein, culture= <10 x 10*6 cfu/l skin flora. Does that mean no bacteria? Is it something else?

Skin flora: Skin flora are bacteria that are normally found living on our skin. When present in a urine culture, it typically means that the specimen was contaminated (e.g., the urine touched something before it got into the sterile specimen cup). I would recommend a repeat culture, using a catheterized specimen if possible. ...Read more

Went to CVS clinic for blood in urine and UTI, said my protein level in urine is high. My body aches bad too like I'm sick, is that normal for UTI?

Protein in urine: Protein in the urine may occur in setting of a UTI and blood (as blood is protein). Protein that exists more than 3 months is more of an issue and needs to be followed more extensively. If persists beyond the urinary tract infection, needs to be quantitate do I.e. See answer: Not knowing details of your medical hx, Fludrocortisone is a steroid and weight gain one of its common potential side effects. Most common cause of elevated phosphorus levels is kidney disease. Your abnormal urinalysis could be related to some kidney disease as well or other underlying abnormality of urinary tract.
