Pregnancy week 21 urinalysis show specific gravity of 1.01 normal range (1.003-1.030) everything else is perfect what does this mean?

Well hydrated...: Specific gravity is essentially a measure of how concentrated your urine is. If you are dehydrated, the number goes up. If you drink lots of water, the number goes down. A slightly low specific gravity just means you are well hydrated. Good job! Its nothing to worry about. ...Read more

Ua (Definition)

A ua is a urinalysis, or chemical and microscopic analysis of the urine. The standard urinalysis is performed with a dipstick test for ph, blood, protein, sugar, and ketones. In addition, a urinalysis usually includes a microscope examination to identify if the urine contains cells, "casts" (structures that indicate a problem originating in the kidney) or crystals (such as ...Read more

Is lower back pain near pelvic area normal, and how will I know if burning in vagina area is already UTI w/o urinalysis in 31 weeks pregnancy?

Is lower back pain near pelvic area normal, and how will I know if burning in vagina area is already UTI w/o urinalysis in 31 weeks pregnancy?

You can't know: For sure without an exam and a urinalysis. It is important to get a diagnosis and treatment since you are pregnant. If you can't get to a clinic/lab over the weekend, you can drink lots of cranberry juice. You can also clean yourself off VERY well, go into a clean cup or jar and check for any odor. Leave it at room temp overnight, if not infected, it should still be clear and nearly odorless. ...Read more

Sounds like a UTI: Urinary tract infection (UTI) is treated with antibiotics. Sometimes a culture is done of the urine, especially if it's a recurrent problem. If you're not on antibiotics, and think you have a UTI, call your doctor right away. Hope this helps! ...Read more

If cps is following a friends pregnancy due to a dirty ua for pot, will babies meconium be tested at birth? Or just blood / urine?

If cps is following a friends pregnancy due to a dirty ua for pot, will babies meconium be tested at birth? Or just blood / urine?

Depends: In my state, if your friend is on the CPS watch list, every hospital in the region will be on notice and both urine and meconium would routinely be tested. Since meconium can retain any banned substance for months after use, the only way to stay out of trouble would be to abstain. You didn't identify the state, so I don't know if this applies. ...Read more

Ua, us, bloodwork neg but clear fetal movement felt/skin tags, extremely tired and linea grava appeared...Whats the probabilty pregnancy?

I'm not an OB/Gyn: But urinalysis and blood tests for pregnancy are the best ways to determine pregnancy. Even "fetal movement" can be other things like gas or bowel function. The other "signs" of pregnancy you list are very subjective. Go with the facts; get another blood test if you really think the first one was bogus/false! ...Read more

How is a urinalysis test related to type 1 diabetes?

Sugar runs thru you: The term diabetes mellitus translated means: sugar runs thru you. Can taking an antibiotic like cefalexin affect my urinalysis?

Not directly: Most antibiotics do not alter the ua, except by killing bacteria. They can, however, alter the urine culture result. A few drugs can directly alter the ua by changing the color of the urine. Rifampin, a less-commonly used antiobiotic, and phenazopyridine/pyridium/azo, a commonly used bladder analgesic, both turn the urine a darker orange, which interferes with reading the urine analysis. ...Read more

Not sure of question: How useful are home tests for what? If you are asking about whether the home tests are useful in seeing if illegal substances are present in your urine, I wouldn't bet my job on it. Pregnancy (Definition)

When your due date arrives, you will be more than ready to have your baby! Most women deliver the baby somewhere between 37 and 42 weeks. According to the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, only 5% of babies arrive on the exact due date. Approximately 7% of babies are not delivered by 42 weeks, and when that happens, it is referred to ...Read more
