Sonogram (Definition)

An ultraound, also known as a sonogram, is a painless and relatively inexpensive imaging test that utilizes sound waves instead of ionizing radiation. There are no side effects. Ultrasound can give us two-dimensional, and in some applications three-dimensional, images of structures and organs in virtually any part of the body. In addition to diagnostic uses, such as evaluating abnormalities in the abdomen, pelvis, and breast, ultrasounds are commonly used to guide needle and catheter placement in a variety of surgical ...Read more

Starting 50mg Clomid (clomiphene) for lean Pcos.
Are the chances good to get pregnant?
Being monitored with blood tests and ultrasounds every two days.

Effective...: Clomid (clomiphene) is usually very effective to enhance ovulation and definitely is good to increase the changes of fertilization. However, like any other medications it all depends on each person. It is also important that you have intercourse as frequently as possible. Make sure you follow up with your doctor as you have been doing so far. ...Read more

I am 8 1/2 weeks pregnant. My insurance only covers two ultrasounds . I am just wondering when is the best time to schedule for atleast the first one.?

Depends: If you re planning on the first trimester screen or nt test it may be done between 11-14 weeks. Otherwise your md will usually perform a fetal survey at ~20 weeks+/- 1 week. It is not absolutely necessary to have two sonograms and is something for you to discuss with your md. Additional ultrasounds may be needed if you have other problems like diabetes or elevated bp. ...Read more

If 2 of my early ultrasounds 6&9 weeks show same due date for june 21st, but now im always measuring a week ahead, is it possible i got pregnant in aug?

If 2 of my early ultrasounds 6&9 weeks show same due date for june 21st, but now im always measuring a week ahead, is it possible i got pregnant in aug?

Unlikely: If you had a 6 and 9 week ultrasound that showed the same due date, then that will be your due date for the remainder of the pregnancy. That is the most accurate date for your pregnancy is done in the first trimester. If you are measuring a week ahead, then likely your baby is a little bit bigger than the average fetus for that gestational age. ...Read more

Don't worry: Was this your first sono? If so then your dates could be off. If your dates were confirmed by an earlier sono the fetus may be slightly smaller than average (half of all pregnancies are), or the ultrasound measurements may have been inaccurate. Your OB may want to repeat the exam in 2 weeks to check that the fetus is growing appropriately. We don't get bent out of shape based on 1 exam. ...Read more

My wife is three months pregnent. The ultrasound shows weak foetus growth.. What is best to be done now?

My wife is three months pregnent. The ultrasound shows weak foetus growth.. What is best to be done now?

Relax, see MFM.: If you are correct and your wife is only 3 months along, then poor fetal growth is highly unlikely. Erroneous dates of the pregnancy is a much more likely explanation for the findings. Seek mfm care to get more personalized answers. Your wife should get plenty of rest, eat liberally a balanced diet and take prenatal vitamins in the meantime. Best of luck! ...Read more

My wife is three months pregnent. The ultrasound shows foetus is week what shud u prescribe is gud to be done for foetus growth?

Not sure: I'm not following your question exactly. I think you are saying that the growth of the fetus at 3 months isn't what is expected. If you've only had one scan, this could be due to the original dates being wrong. If not, watchful waiting is about all you can do. I'd recommend getting a followup scan in a couple weeks to see how growth is progressing. Good luck to you and your wife! ...Read more

Pregnancy (Definition)

When your due date arrives, you will be more than ready to have your baby! Most women deliver the baby somewhere between 37 and 42 weeks. According to the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, only 5% of babies arrive on the exact due date. Approximately 7% of babies are not delivered by 42 weeks, and when that happens, it is referred to ...Read more
