Why does one have irregular periods? Women, 40 year old spotting once in a while but not a period. Began to have period 15 1/2 years old.

Irregular : Irregular periods can have many causes. This might be a sign of pregnancy, infrequent ovulation, a hormone imbalance, early menopause or possibly some type of abnormality of the female genital organs such as the uterus or the cervix. You need a visit to a gyn doctor who will ask a lot about the dates of your bleeding, the amount, whether or not there were other hormonal symptoms. The pelvic exam can help identify conditions, and then there will likely need to be some blood tests and perhaps a pelvic ultrasound. The treatment depends on the cause. It might be just going on the pill, it might be no treatment at all. ...Read more

Normal.: Mild cramps and aches are common in pregnancy as the uterus grows and stretches its supporting ligaments. Not to worry if there is no vaginal bleeding and your obstetrician's examination is normal at each prenatal care visit. You may only use regular tylenol (acetaminophen) for discomforts of pregnancy - not advil/aleve/motrin or other nsaids! take Folic Acid 1-5 mg daily and good luck! ...Read more

Sushi & pregnanc: Sushi should be avoided during pregnancy for two reasons. (1) risk of bacterial infection complicating the pregnancy. (2) risk of exposure to mercury complicating the pregnancy. I m 28 year female. trying to get pregnant from 5 months. sometimes masturbate. Does masturbate reduces chances of pregnancy. one miscarriage in past?

No effect: That you care to masturbate is actually a GOOD THING, a proxy for active hormonal status, which is also a function of your ovarian function (good). Masturbation does not decrease your chance of pregnancy and has nothing to do with miscarriage. Best of luck. Take prenatal vitamins if you're trying to conceive. ...Read more
