Can you detect a sebaceous cyst under ultrasound? My doc said its a sebaceous cyst but I think its a swollen lymph node.

Sebaceous cyst: It all depends on where the "cyst" is. If it is on the back, buttocks, abdominal wall, chest or neck it is most likely a sebaceous cyst. If it is in the armpit or groin it could also be an enlarged lymph node. An ultrasound examination can certainly distinguish between an enlarged lymph node and a sebaceous cyst. See your internist if the lump does not resolve. ...Read more

Not likely: A swollen lymph gland in the neck would not be related to ingested food, but would be secondarily caused by infection/inflammation somewhere in that region as a rule. Lymph nodes: Tammy, every young adult has a couple of palpable lymph nodes. Some folks have a big one here, another there, another somewhere else. The rare malignancy (at your age, Hodgkin's) is obviously abnormal. If your nose is troubling you, your physician can examine you -- again, deviated septum or sinus blockage is much more likely to be the problem. Best wishes. ...Read more

What to do if I have one swollen lymph node in my neck. I believe it is cpuld be the cause for this one lymph node doing this?

Monitoring Centers: Lymphatic system absorbs/carries things too big to go into the arteries/veins like bacteria eaten by white cells and digested food. Lymph nodes "taste" the lymph for anything bad like bacteria/viruses/cancers, etc. When it detects a problem, it alerts the immune system and your body reacts. They enlarge in response to the inflammation they create when they react. They shrink when all is well. ...Read more
