May be normal: Incidental findings of small structures such as mesenteric lymph nodes on ct are most often normal. Radiologists comment only on what they see. It is up to your doctor who ordered the ct scan to tell if this is clinically important & relevant you you, or likely a normal radiology finding. ...Read more

Somewhat: Major surgery has a small risk from general anesthesia alone. It is safe most of the time, or we wouldn't do it. What you have is not clear, which is why you are having the surgery. Hopefully the surgery corrects the problem and all is well, but it depends on what is causing the problem. After the surgery you will know what caused it and what the next steps will be. Removal: If you have an 8 cm painful ovarian mass then this can be removed. Schedule a visit with an obgyn in their office instead of going to the er.
