Can A Liver Laceration Mean There Was Child Abuse
Depends: Depends on the age of the child and the circumstances. If the facts on how injury occurred are sketchy and hard to believe than abuse is always in the differential.See 2 more doctor answers
This organ plays a major role in metabolism and has a number of functions in the body, including glycogen storage, decomposition of red blood cells, plasma protein synthesis, hormone production, and detoxification. It lies below the diaphragm in the abdominal-pelvic region of the abdomen. It produces bile, an alkaline compound which aids in digestion via the emulsification of ...Read more
Liver lacerations: A liver laceration is caused by blunt force trauma; a transfer of energy. Car crashes, falls, beatings, boxing and sports injuries are most common causes. Some of these lacerations are observed and some require surgical intervention. The 90% may refer to some aspect of the liver function or the laceration. Ok to ask your health team.
Several weeks: A grade v liver laceration is severe. It will take several weeks to heal. Not only is the liver lacerated but you may have blood loss and it will take time to recover from other injuries. Start slow and build each day. If you over do it you will notice the next day. If you are taking narcotics for pain then use colace (docusate sodium) and senna. Be well.
Depends: Depends on type of injury, blunt. Or penetrating, small laceration or extensive laceration, what is involved major vessels like hepatic vein or vena cava are involved. Simple injuries are by simple repair with contol of bleeding area of liver, complex injuries require like resection of liver lobe, ligation of hepatic artery, or repair of complex vascular reconstruction etc.
I suffered a grade 4 liver laceration. Hospitalized for nine days. How long should I wait before consuming alcohol?
6-8 weeks: You want to wait 6-8 weeks to consume alcohol. The liver needs to heal completely. Remember also that the maximum amount of alcohol that is felt to be safe for women to consume is no more than one drink a day, that is one beer, one small glass of wine or one shot of spirits.
After a liver laceration grade 2, how long they will keep you in the hospital? Can I ask for going home after 3week?
Serious Trauma: To get a liver laceration grade 2, you had to have had serious trauma. The liver is just one thing that doctors look at when patients have trauma of that magnitude. The doctors will let you know when it is safe you go home.

All kinds!: Liver injuries include blunt and penetrating. The latter are often caused by gunshots and stabbings, although industrial incidents also occur. In blunt force trauma, the most likely causes are car crashes, motorcycle wrecks and falls. Lacerations can be cause by direct trauma (e.g. Steering wheel impact) or deceleration and tearing of the livers attachments.See 1 more doctor answer

I had cycling crash and had liver laceration grade 2, how long and time should I recover (rest) and start cycling again?
Good question: No one really knows for sure how long liver lacerations take to heal, but it depends on extent of damage, associated organ injury, location of injury, etc. I would say 3 months to resume, if you are doing competitive cycling. If you are just riding with low risk of another crash, you can probably resume as soon as pain resolves. Ask your trauma surgeon for specific recommendations in your case
Be kind: To your liver. It's the only one you get, and a transplant is a big deal. A liver laceration can take several weeks to heal. Wait for the ok from your doctor before considering doing anything that might compromise the health of your liver. Follow up imaging like an ultrasound may be helpful.
Could a grade three liver laceration still effect liver enzyme levels and liver function nearly ten years later?
No: Elevated liver enzymes suggests recent liver cell damage due to viral, drug, poison or other causes.
See below: Pain is the most common symptom. This is due to bleeding. If the live capsule is intact the bleeding will be contained in the liver and the pain will be focused in the right upper abdomen. If the capsule is torn the bleeding will be throughout the abdomen and the pain will be more diffuse. Other symptoms could be fast heartbeat, shortness of breath, pale skin, blacking out, decreased urine.
Liver tear: A liver laceration is a rent in the hepatic substance itself usually secondary to trauma (blunt or penetrating).
Depends: There are many factors that come into play when determining when it is appropriate to start a workout and weight lifting program after a liver laceration. These factors include the severity of the laceration, its location, the involvement of any major blood vessels, the surgery performed, and the strenuousness of the workout you desire to pursue. See your surgeon to address your specific needs.See 1 more doctor answer
How long should I wait before drinking alcohol after a car accident with a possible liver laceration?
My son eas injured in a car crash caused a grade 2 liver laceration. Even since he has been home he complains he is always tired should I worrie?
Liver laceration: I have to believe by your comment that the surgeons elected to observe the lacerated liver. Just experiencing the type of trauma enough to lacerated the liver will cause a degree of lethargy for a while. My concern would be the possibility of continued blood loss from the laceration. Follow up with your family physician or surgeon and repeat a complete blood count and possibly a repeat ct scan.See 2 more doctor answers
