You should follow up with your primary care doctor for a physical exam and potentially with the surgeon that did the appendectomy for an exam as well. ...Read more

Abdominal Pain/women: Studies show that abdominal pain in women must take into account the anatomical location, onset (sudden or gradual), intensity, radiation and associated factors. Consult for more information. ...Read more

How does a hiatal hernia cause gerd?

"Yo-Yo" stomach.: One mechanism that prevents reflux of food or acid from the stomach up the esophagus is the fact that the pressure within the abdominal cavity is higher than the pressure in the stomach. If the stomach "yo-yo's" into the chest cavity through a hiatal hernia, the negative pressure within the chest cavity changes this pressure gradient, favoring reflux. ...Read more

Could a hiatal hernia cause back pain just to the right of the spine about 1 inch below the shoulder blade?

The possible problems could range from an early ulcer forming, to a portion of the stomach or other part of the intestine that is partially/intermittently stuck within the hernia and can't get out when it needs to. See a gastroenterologist or a surgeon. ...Read more
