Can A Gastric Sleeve Stretch
What are the effects of a gastric sleeve 5, 10, 20 years post-op? Will the sleeve still be intact, working order? How much can/will it stretch? Regain?
Sleeve gastrectomy: No one knows for certain what the outcomes of vertical sleeve gastrectomy will be at more than 5 years. We know that patients having similar gastrectomies tolerate it well. It may stretch some over time but it does not stretch a great deal. Its success depends on your dietary compliance.
I'm 5'1 and 250. Do I qualify for gastric sleeve? And if I do, will I have a ton of excess skin? I have hardly any stretch marks right now.
It's up to you: With any barietric procedure the patient can "out eat" the procedure. I have had this happen many times. If you get your post-op calories from solid food it is hard to gain weight. But suppose you get most of your post-op calories from liquids (e.G coke or scotch). You will cause the procedure to fail. This happens more than we would like to admit. You can ruin the operation in a few months.
I had a gastric sleeve in 2010.I currently weigh 137 started at 300lbs. Is it possible to have surgery to stretch my stomach and gain weight?
Maybe, But why would: Anyone do it. Repeat surgeries are always frought with dangers and risks of complications are multiplied. I would not recomend it. Lets see if anyone else would?
Gastric sleeve n 2010. 300 now 135 6ft. It's not stretch and the low food intake has dropped my immune system/health bad. Any ideas on fixing fast?
Had gastric sleeve & told not to drink diet soda because stomach fills with air stretching the stomach. How can stomach fill with air since open @top?
Not open at the top!: There is the cardio-esophageal sphincter which closes off the esophagus
Tight at beginning: The ideal gastric sleeve should be fairly tight at the beginning (usually a 34 fr bougie), should begin about 1 inch from the pylorus (the end of stomach), and go directly to the angle of his right next to the esophagus. Experience shows that the sleeve will not stretch more than about 5% if kept tight from the beginning.See 2 more doctor answers
It does not: Gastric sleeve is surgical weight loss procedure in which a major portion of the stomach is removed along the lesser curve of the stomach. This leave a banana shaped stomach. Unlike gastric banding where a band is applied along the top of the stomach, the gastric sleeve is not associated with slippage. I hope my answer is well descriptive.See 2 more doctor answers
Depends..: What you can eat depends on how far out from surgery you are. Every surgeon has a different protocol for advancing diet after surgery. However, once you are several months since surgery you can eat pretty much whatever you want. Just a lot less of it.
At this point: Most surgeons including myself recommend waiting about 4 weeks prior to exercising after major surgery. Keep in mind every one is different so you really should just call your surgeon to confirm if it is okay to start exercising. Incidentally you are 1 month postop so you should be following up with your bariatric surgeon anyway.See 1 more doctor answer
Banana stomach: Basically we take your stomach from the size of a football and cut in down to the size of a banana. And throw the excess stomach away. The sleeve has an expected weight loss of about 60-70% of your excess weight at about 12-18 months.
Gastric sleeve: We can not answer it for you without knowing your bmi, your other co existing conditions like high bp, diabetes and others and your family history you should get educated about the procedure, talk to the surgeon and ask all the questions about what kind of results you will achieve and what the side effects are and do your own research about the procedure and the surgeon.See 1 more doctor answer
Band to sleeve: It is acceptable to have a revision from a band to sleeve gastrectomy or gastric bypass in a single stage operation. I routinely perform this. However, it really depends on how difficult the band removal is and how much scar tissue is present. There are times where I will choose to only remove the band and do the sleeve or bypass at a later date.
I've had a gastric sleeve done about a year and 4 months ago I've put the weight back on. What do I do?
Please see the doc: Please see your bariatric surgeon to discuss if you need further revision. Please read the material from the link below. Http://www. Ncbi. Nlm. Nih. Gov/pubmed/24170068.
I have lost 10stone in weight with a gastric sleeve I am worried about putting it all back on I am 20 months out. Thanks?
Vigilance!: Can't cheat (but everyone does), can't decrease activity (but everyone does).
Sleeve gastrectomy: The sleeve gastrectomy is very effective and has a high success rate. Patients typically lose about 60-65% of their excess body weight by a year to year and a half. That means if you are 100lbs overweight, you would lose 60-65 lbs. If you are 200 lbs overweight, you would lose 120-130 lbs. This doesn't mean you lose the weight automatically. You have to eat the right foods and exercise as well.See 2 more doctor answers
